Are you ready for summer? You better be as it’s officially here!
How do you keep from melting off like an ice cream cone? There are a few basics, utterly essential to ensuring your makeup will work with you rather than against you. Coming to the rescue is the newly released Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Blurring and Illuminating Primer, the first of its kind created by the brand!
My requirements for a good primer are few. It has to hold my makeup in place throughout my long days and keep shine at bay. The YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer does that splendidly and a whole lot more, just keep reading! This innovative primer combines an advanced blur technology (to create a flawless, almost airbrushed complexion) with the magic of cult-classic Touche Eclat (to add a soft radiance and liven up the complexion). The formula is a luxurious silky-smooth gel with golden flecks and free of dulling opaque fillers, thus allowing the light to diffuse thru optimally. It’s packaged in a slick and weighty glass pump bottle, looking very Parisian chic. The ingredients are few (Corn Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil, Passiflora Seed Oil, Rice Bran Oil, and Silica), but it does contain dimethicone (thus it’s a silicone-based primer) and is infused with YSL’s signature fragrance.
I find that this primer smoothes out my pores and reduces the appearance of any redness, dark spots or hyperpigmentation, giving the complexion a soft, satin-matte finish. It can be applied under foundation or worn alone (over your moisturizer or SPF) to boost skin’s luminosity. A little goes a long way, so I would recommend using a light hand. Just dot the primer around the perimeter of the face and use your favorite makeup brush, beauty blender or fingers to blend out. The primer lets the foundation apply so much smoother and layers well with any foundation I’ve tried, from thicker ones such as Chanel Les Beiges to cult-favorite Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk. It works not only on the face as a makeup base, but can also be applied on the neck and other exposed areas to impart a healthy, radiant glow. The formula melts into the skin and is otherwise invisible, thus it will never stain your clothes.
The YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer is recommended for all skin types, even sensitive complexions such as mine. When coupled with my La Mer Soft Fluid Foundation (reviewed here) and applied with my Artis Oval 6 as described here, I hardly ever feel the need to touch-up throughout the day! And that’s quite a bold claim given that I live in sunny (yet horribly humid) Florida!

What chic photography Cat! I adore this primer too. It definitely blurs out my pores and controls the shines effectively. And the gold flecks though! I also use setting spray to prolong my makeup further. Thank you so much for sharing Cat!xo

As always, great review and photos Cat! At first I thought this primer was going to be gimmicky due to the gold flecks, but after trying a sample of this I fell in love as well! It really does blur out minor imperfections and the difference it makes to my foundation application/longevity is amazing! I’m definitely sold on this primer as well.
