Spring has definitely sprung and why not turn up the heat here on the blog as well! Allow me to introduce you today to a small (but mighty) eyeshadow palette that you might not necessarily need, but that you will most certainly want: the Urban Decay Naked Petite Heat. This palette was kindly sent to me by Urban Decay under no obligation to review. Yet I’ve become so smitten with its warm-toned color story and assortment of lively, vibrant shades that I decided to dedicate an entire post to it. It’s simply just that good not to share!
Inspired by the Naked Heat, this petite palette holds an all-new lineup of 6 scorched neutrals perfect for every day, every occasion, every outfit, trend or season. There are 5 mattes for lid, crease and liner, plus one satin-sheen highlighting shade. At a quick glance, it is the kind of palette some might overlook by thinking ‘it’s just not for me’ and choose to admire from afar. To be completely honest, this was the category I initially found myself in. With its warm-toned neutrals, the Petite Heat didn’t feel quite as unique as previous Urban Decay Naked offerings. Plus, I don’t typically gravitate toward palettes with a predominately matte composition. But when you get up close and dive into the shades, it is exactly the type of palette needed to inject a fresh attitude into any makeup look.
Shade Selection
In true Urban Decay fashion, the formula of the Naked Petite Heat eyeshadows is outstanding: creamy, silky-smooth, incredibly pigmented and with great lasting power. Not only is the pigmentation top-notch, but blending is a total breeze. These shades blend just as well if not better than any of my high end palettes (think Tom Ford, Charlotte Tilbury and Burberry). I think this speaks to the superiority of Urban Decay shadows in general.
The swatches from top to bottom and corresponding to the colors in the palette from left to right:
- Inhale – satin sheen pearlized shade with a cream overtone, can be used all over the lid or to higlight the brow bone and inner corner
- Vibrate – matte light warm beige, great for all over the lid
- Hot Spell – matte medium brown, the perfect crease shade
- Wild Thing – matte burnt orange shade
- Heist – matte rich chestnut, can be used to accentuate the crease
- Strike – matte deep chocolate brown for deepening the outer corner, tightlining (applying liner underneath the upper lashes on the upper lash line), waterlining (applying liner inside the eye area on the waterline) and filling in the brows
The shades swatched effortlessly on my arm and translated beautifully on the lids as well.
Size
I’m a big fan of smaller eyeshadow palettes for a multitude of reasons. For starters, chances are I’ll be using every single one of the shades included. Thus, they’re actually a better value for the money. Secondly, all the shades included should complement each other beautifully. Thus, smaller palettes take the guesswork out of figuring out which shades go together and which are a total disaster when paired together. It becomes a lot easier to create eye makeup looks without feeling overwhelmed. Lastly, because of their compact size, smaller palettes are easier to travel with or to carry in your purse for impromptu touch-ups throughout the day.
For the eye look above, I started out by applying Inhale all over the lid and popped Hot Spell onto the crease. Next, I layered on a combination of Wild Thing and Heist to the outer third of the lid, blending out any hard edges. I was going for a diffused sort of look, so I was not too precise about the color placement. I finished the look by lining my lower lash line with Strike. This is a makeup look I find myself gravitating towards on most days, as it’s effortless and easy to accomplish, yet it instantly makes you look elegant and put together. On the lips, I’m wearing Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in Backtalk. It is a universally-flattering mauvey shade that inspired the newly-released Urban Decay Backtalk Face Palette, which I reviewed in great detail here.
The more I use the Naked Petite Heat Palette the more I fall in love with the rich, warm shades. I am just blown away by the artistry of the Urban Decay brand who managed to create a universally flattering palette of warm nude shades. If you like a good neutral palette, then this is the one you should not miss. Not only does the palette include a versatile range of sophisticated every day browns, but it also comes with two beautiful accent shades, the satin sheen Inhale and the burnt orange Wild Thing, that are unexpected and very chic.

I swore I left a comment but think I read it on the go?!? – so had to of course let you know how fabulous your review was and how gorgeous your images are.
I Love the original HEAT palette and I adore the Naked Mini palettes even more as for me they are an ideal travel item so looks like I shall be nipping down to Sephora to see if they have it! God they are so slow here with UD launches, so annoying! – Kelly xx

I have the bigger Heat Palette but to be honest I forgot it! It lays somewhere in my drawer and I maybe used it twice to see how the pigmentation was. You reminded me to grab it again, it would be such a pity if I wouldn’t use it (sorrrry I have so much stuff that I sometimes forget what I have..). Great review dear and I love the look of this cute little palette. They included the perfect shades in this beauty!
