Spoil me, honey! And Urban Decay has certainly done just that with their latest release, the newest addition to the Naked family, the eye-catching Naked Honey Eyeshadow Palette! They really hit the bee out of the beehive (pun intended!) with a decadent selection of swarming, golden-hued neutrals that transition effortlessly from understated, every-day looks to full-on, elegant glam! I’ve been buzzin’ on the Naked Honey Palette’s rich, addictive colors and dipping into them every day this week. Don’t worry, I’ll stop with the bee references now, although I’ve been having fun with that too. But let’s not waste any more precious time and dive into this buzzed-about palette (sorry, I had to just throw one more in 🙂 ) …
Urban Decay Naked Honey Eyeshadow Palette
The Urban Decay Naked Honey Eyeshadow Palette features an array of 12 golden neutrals with finishes ranging from satin to matte and metallic pressed pigments. It is a predominantly warm palette. There is a variety of classic golds, warm ambers and rich chocolate browns. But there are also a few neutrals that lean on the cool-toned side.
The eyeshadow palette also includes a vegan, cruelty-free double-ended brush.
Shade range
Let’s take a closer look at each of the shades:
- FlyBy – neutral ivory shimmer
- Sweet – light neutral beige matte
- Swarm – warm beige
- Amber – metallic amber
- Keeper – warm light brown
- Golden – golden pressed pigment
- Honey – metallic honey color
- Queen – bronze pressed pigment
- Hive – neutral medium brown matte
- Drip – warm medium brown matte
- HBIC – copper pressed pigment
- Sting – neutral dark brown
All swatches are single swipes.
Formula and Pigmentation
Urban Decay formulas have always been among THE best on the market. The Naked Honey shades blend easily and are highly pigmented, as seen in the swatches above. My favorite colors are FlyBy, Sweet and the 3 pigments (Golden, Queen, HBIC).
FlyBy is such a versatile color and the satin sheen formula is outstanding. It’s the kind of shade perfect for all over the lid or to accentuate the brow bone and inner corner. The matte Sweet feels very soft and blends really well, the best of the mattes. You can use it all over the lid or as a transition color. The pigments are all so easy to work with and the color payoff is incredible. There is a bit of fallout, but not nearly as much as when working with loose pigments since these are pressed. Always make sure to tap the excess off your brush, before applying the color on the eye. The matte shades are a bit on the dry side, with the exception of Sweet. I would say these matte formulas are very similar to those in the Urban Decay Naked Cherry Palette, previously reviewed here.
Lasting Power
In terms of lasting power, the Naked Honey shades seem to last on the eyes for about 8-9 hours, depending on how hot and humid it is that day. The shades can all be worn individually, but they layer beautifully as well.
Below is an every-day makeup look I created using the Naked Honey Palette. Foundation: Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Foundation (review coming to the blog soon). Lipgloss: Chanel Rouge Coco Gloss in Subtil. Naipolish: Chanel Pirate.
I was very surprised by how versatile this palette is. It is the kind of palette that might look a bit intimidating upon first glance. But as you dive into the shadows, you quickly realize just how wearable and perfect for every day all the colors are. It truly is an impressive and unique selection of neutrals!
The Urban Decay Naked Honey Eyeshadow Palette is currently available at Sephora and Ulta.
