The beauty community has recently listened aghast to news that Urban Decay was pulling the plug on the iconic original Naked Palette. An extremely bold move by the brand considering the palette had always been one of the brand’s bestsellers! So, what were they thinking? Cue in Naked Cherry, a palette with a sultry vibe and 12 never-before-picked neutrals!
I was recently sent a PR package containing the entire Naked Cherry Vault Collection and thought I’d review everything for you here on the blog. The good, the bad and more importantly: is the Naked Cherry Eyeshadow Palette really worth it?
The new Urban Decay Naked Cherry Collection includes:
- Eyeshadow palette with 12 new shadows – detailed review below
- Face palette with blush, highlighter and an iridescent topper – I was pleasantly surprised by the blush. It has such a beautiful rosy plum color that adds the most natural flush to the skin.
- 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in 2 new colors: Black Market (black satin) and Love Drug (deep wine metallic) – I love both shades and have been using them almost every day. The formula of the Urban Decay Glide-On pencils is one of my favorites. The creamy waterproof formula stays soft for blending for about 30 seconds, then dries down to a long-lasting finish that will NOT budge.
- Vice Lipstick in 3 new shades: Juicy (cream sheen, a light peachy-pink with copper micor-shimmer), Devilish (mettalized berry pink with tonal micro-shimmers) and Cherry (cream, a deep berry wine) – I love the formula of Vice Lipsticks and was pleasantly surprised by Cherry. It’s the quintessential autumnal color, quite wearable despite its deep tone.
- All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray in a cherry scent – I swear by the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray. The formula is made with patented Temperature Control Technology and suitable for all skin types. The micro-fine mist keeps the makeup looking fresh for up to 16 hours. But I must admit I’m not the biggest fan of the cherry scent. It reminds me of the maraschino candied cherries from cocktails. Luckily the scent doesn’t linger much longer after application.
Urban Decay Naked Cherry Eyeshadow Palette
The color story of Naked Cherry really caught me off guard. It tells the tale of lively cherry-hued colors, a harmonious mixture of soft mattes and sizzling metallics. The shades range from creamy ivory and shimmering coppers to rich plums and a deep, intense black cherry. It truly is a stunning array of sultry shades! But in terms of day to day life, is it really that wearable? Does it make the sudden death of the original Naked a bit more bearable? In a beauty world that’s bombarded with new releases every single day, is it really worth it?
Let’s take a closer look at each of the shades…
- Hot Spot – ivory matte
- Caution – soft neutral beige matte
- Bang Bang – shimmering pink with gold shift and iridescent micro-sparkle
- Feelz – soft dusty rose matte
- Juicy – soft warm peach
- Turn On – pale metallic rose shimmer
- Ambitious – metallic rose copper
- Bing – deep mauve matte
- Devilish – reddish plum matte
- Young Love – metallic cranberry
- Drunk Dial – deep metallic burgundy
- Privacy – deep brownish-plum matte
All swatches are single swipes.
First and foremost: the quality, pigmentation and lasting power of the shades is outstanding. Of course, I wouldn’t expect anything less from Urban Decay. Over the years, they have taken eyeshadow formulas to the next level, while keeping prices reasonable. All the shades in Naked Cherry blend like a dream and layer beautifully as well. The texture feels like the most expensive silk velvet on your skin.
When considering an eyeshadow palette, especially a bigger palette such as the Naked Cherry, an important factor in the decision-buying process is how much wear I can actually get from the shades on a day-to-day basis. I don’t lead a glamourous lifestyle. Most days I work from home and live in my yoga pants. I feel overwhelmed by household chores and struggle to keep up with my 4-year old! So, the challenge for me came in finding a way to wear the Naked Cherry palette on most days. To show you just how versatile this palette actually is, I have created two makeup looks: a soft every day kind of look as well as a smokey evening look perfect for a night out or dinner with friends. I used the Naked Cherry Face Palette (blush and highlight) and Cherry Setting Spray for both looks.
My go-to every day look is very simple. A quick swipe of Caution to accentuate the crease. I buff out and blend Bang Bang all over the mobile lid. Then I pop Turn On onto the middle of the lid to add some luminosity and Privacy onto the outer third to add some definition.
You can easily utilize the Naked Cherry palette to dial up the fun and create a more dramatic look if you so desire! For the look above, I blended out Ambitious all over the mobile lid and swept Privacy into the crease. I added Drunk Dial to the outer half of the lid, blending upwards toward the crease. I popped Turn On onto the middle of the lid and inner corner. Finished the look by lining my upper lash line with the Black Market pencil liner and my lower lash line with Love Drug. On the lips, I’m wearing Cherry. It’s a very luminous deep plum and the formula is incredibly comfortable on the lips.
If I’d been quick to initially dispel this palette, I am now telling you that you simply have to swatch it and see for yourself. All the shades pair well together and transition beautifully from day to evening looks, regardless of season and/or occasion. It truly is an impressive selection of neutrals. I will conclude by saying that the Naked Cherry palette is simply striking! I was very much impressed by the shade range featured, the superb pigmentation of each color and the versatility of finishes!

Hi Cat
I don’t wear makeup on a day today basis as the same as you I am at home and doing housework etc but reading this and looking at the ‘day’ makeup it’s inspiring!
I wouldn’t normally look at these colours, I’m much more of a neutral shade, mainly because I don’t want to look silly but these look so good!
Thanks Cat!!
Love and hugs
