Urban Decay Born To Run Eyeshadow Palette
I received this palette back in the summer of 2018 when I was quietly going thru my social media detox (more on that here). There was never a stipulation for me to review the palette or post about it. And for a while I contemplated skipping out. You see, by the time I returned to the fast-paced land of social media, Born To Run had already launched for months. But I’ve been so impressed with the shade range and quality of shades, that I simply had to share it on the blog. It is my hope that you will find this post helpful, especially if you’re on the hunt for a do-it-all, slick-packaged palette.
Shade Range
You can certainly choose your own adventure by creating a limitless number of looks with the shade selection included in this palette. The color story allows you to seamlessly transition from neutral, understated makeup to bold and daring looks. You can stay in your comfort zone or add in pops of color and play with brights. The choice is yours. In fact, you don’t even have to make a choice because all the shades you’ll ever need or want are included in this palette.
Let’s take a closer look at each of the shades:
- Breakaway – warm ivory shimmer
- Stranded – pale rose gold with tonal micro-shimmers
- Blaze – light metallic with a pink shift (this is an existing Urban Decay shade from a prior launch)
- Weekender – light neutral beige matte
- Still Shot – peachy matte
- Riff – brown-nude matte with floating micro-sparkle (this is an existing Urban Decay shade from a prior launch)
- Good as Gone – deep brown with iridescent micro-shimmer
- Hell Ride – deep fuschia matte
- Baja – burnt orange matte
- Accelerate – reddish copper metallic
- Guilt Trip – smoky purple shimmer
- Ignite – rose gold metallic
- Smog – deep coppery bronze (this is an existing Urban Decay shade from a prior launch)
- Wanderlust – forest green with gold micro-shimmer
- Wildheart – bright fuschia shimmer
- Punk – reddish-brown matte (this is an existing Urban Decay shade from a prior launch)
- Double Life – metallic rust
- Jet – black with deep shimmering purple shift (this is an existing Urban Decay shade from a prior launch)
- Drift – charcoal satin with tonal micro-sparkle
- Radio – deep emerald satin
- Big Sky – frosted green shimmer with iridescent micro-sparkle
The finishes range from mattes to satins, shimmers and metallics.
Texture, Formula and Pigmentation
Urban Decay formulas have always been among THE best on the market and have certainly gotten even better over the years. Born To Run eyeshadows have a velvety texture, rich pigment and effortless blendability. The color seems to stay put for a good 8-10 hours depending on how hot or humid it is. There isn’t too much powder kickback, but the matte shades do seem a bit more powdery than other Urban Decay palettes I reviewed in the past. See Naked Petite Heat review here, Backtalk palette reviewed here and Naked Cherry reviewed in a prior blog post here. If I had to compare how powdery the shades are, I would say the mattes from Born to Run are similar to those from my Anastasia Beverly Hills Sultry Palette reviewed and swatched here.
Packaging
The packaging is incredibly slick, slim and light considering there are 21 shades in the palette. It features a plastic case with magnetic closure that seems to stay well in place and a good-size mirror. There isn’t a brush included with this palette, but I always tend to use my own select brushes.

I am not the biggest eye shadow wearer, I normally would wear it when I’m going to an important event or a party. This palette have some gorgeous colors that I would love to try , I also I do appreciate a good lasting eye shadow, so 8 to 10 hours of wear is pretty awesome. I don’t think I’ve seen this palette in stores, but then again I don’t go shopping for eye shadow often. When traveling I don’t like traveling with a large palette so I try to pack a color that will go well with most of my outfits , especially if I need it for a couple events while away. So another thing I do love about this palette is that its travel friendly, which is right up my alley! I enjoyed your post and the pics ! 🙂
