I must confess I’m not a fan of Chanel eyeshadow formulas. Generally speaking, I would not recommend them. The main gripe I have is that in my personal experience, the pigmentation is not consistent and not adequate to reflect the elevated price point. Every time they release a new palette, I find myself at the Chanel counter, gasping in admiration. Then I swatch and get a hold of myself. This time around however, I broke out of the normal pattern. Each summer, Chanel releases new additions to their iconic Les Beiges range, usually with a specific focus in mind. This summer is all about the ‘new natural’, aka sun-kissed golden skin that just beams with an effortless, natural glow. And after watching several YouTube videos showcasing the collection in action, I caved. Call it advertising at its best, but I too wanted to be transformed! I wanted experience that fresh, radiant, bare-skin effect! Without first swatching, trying or sampling, I ordered the Chanel Les Beige Natural Eyeshadow Palette Les Indispensable and the Chanel Les Beiges Fresh Water Tint (detailed review here).
So, let’s dish! I’m ready to give you my honest thoughts, likes and dislikes. There will be a separate post detailing the much hyped-up Chanel Les Beiges Fresh Water Tint, the first complexion enhancer with micro-droplet pigments. But today I’d like to focus on the eyeshadow palette. I’ll show you swatches and a makeup look. We can figure out together if it’s worth it.

Chanel Les Beiges Natural Eyeshadow Palette Les Indispensables
The NEW Chanel Les Beiges Natural Eyeshadow Palette Les Indispensables is a limited-edition compact featuring 9 neutral shades with finishes ranging from mattes to satin shimmers.
Shade Range
At a quick glance, this is the kind of palette some might overlook by thinking it’s not very unique. But these are not your typical, boring neutrals! The colors are eye-catching, sophisticated and universally-flattering. You can certainly create a limitless number of looks and take your makeup from day to night in a matter of seconds. The shade range has been curated to allow for a seamless transition from neutral, understated daytime makeup to glamorous, bold evening looks. While still looking like yourself!
A few of the shades resemble my beloved Chanel Mystique Eye Quad, the only other Chanel eyeshadow palette I own and one of my all-time favorites. Similar to Mystique Eye, the Les Beiges Natural Palette features a soft pale pink, a glistening taupey silver, a rich bronze and a deeper, slightly cool-toned brown. I’ve had my Mystique Eye Quad for years. It’s been well loved and I use it often. So, I know I’ll get a ton of wear from these shades.
I love the shimmers in this palette! They add the most beautiful, elegant sparkle to the eye, which generally is a much more modern, youthful look than the full-on glitter which often times comes with highly pigmented shimmer shades. I do however wish the palette included a proper matte dark brown for deepening the crease and accentuating the outer corner. The darkest shade in the palette has ultra-fine shimmers running thru it. The shimmers in this particular shade are quite sparse, so it does appear more like a matte when blended. There are 2 proper matte shades, a neutral medium brown and a taupe. Both perfect to blend along the crease and add definition.
Texture, Formula and Pigmentation
The texture is incredibly soft and creamy. The shades feel like the most expensive silk-velvet caressing your eyelids. The colors layer well and there isn’t a lot of powder kickback. While the shades are not super pigmented, the intensity seems to be just right. They apply effortlessly and blend seamlessly.
Below is a makeup look featuring the shades in Les Beiges Natural Palette. In terms of pigmentation, the shades are a bit understated. So, the challenge for me came in figuring out if I can dial up the intensity of the colors. The velvety formula with practically no powder kickback allows for the shades to layer seamlessly and create a more dramatic look if you so desire! This is a makeup look I wear on most days. As you can see, the colors are rich, lively and vivid. In this photo, I’m also wearing the Chanel Les Beiges Fresh Water Tint (reviewed here).
Packaging
The Les Beiges Natural Palette comes in a slick, elegant, lacquered compact in the brand’s iconic beige color. The packaging feels light and looks incredibly luxurious. The size is perfect to carry around in your purse and for traveling. It comes with 2 small dual-ended applicators and a good-size mirror.
Final Thoughts
When considering an eyeshadow palette, especially an expensive one such as the Les Beiges Natural, an important factor in the buying process is how much wear I can actually get from the shades on a day-to-day basis. I don’t lead a glamorous lifestyle. Most days I work from home and live in my yoga pants. I feel overwhelmed by household chores and struggle to keep up with my 4-year old! I could definitely get better at managing my time, but for right now I simply can’t spend hours blending my eyeshadows! For me, the Les Beiges Natural is one of those swipe-and-go kind of palettes. It’s easy, effortless and I don’t have to think about which shades can be paired together. They all go together and can be applied quickly to achieve a polished look.
The new Chanel Les Beiges Natural Eyeshadow Palette is currently available at Nordstrom and on the Chanel website here.
