Exciting times for us beauty lovers! The Sephora Semi-Annual VIB Sale is finally here! I have a previous post with dates, discount codes and how the sale works (what’s included this year, what’s limited and what’s not a part of the sale) here. But I thought today I would share with you my Makeup Recommendations, what to score at the sale this time around. There is a separate post on Skincare Recommendations here and Haircare here. I figured a shorter, more concise post might be more user-friendly. What do you think? Do let me know in the comments below.
So, today I’d like to share with you some new and old makeup products that deserve our attention.
Note: This post is not meant to be an in-depth review of every product mentioned, but rather a quick overview. I will however try to link a detailed review where I can find one. So get your pen and paper, let’s begin …
Sephora VIB Sale: Makeup Recommendations
An easy to use, great quality eyeshadow palette is a must-have in any beauty lover’s makeup kit. What I love about these little quads is that the colors are color-coded via an innovative technique using color theory and the color wheel. The shades within each palette complement each other beautifully. You can effortlessly create a daytime or evening look very easily, without having to guess which colors go together (which sometimes happens with bigger eyeshadow palettes). I reviewed in detail everything from the collection and showed you how each eyeshadow palette translates on the skin in a previous post here.
These dual-ended eye pencils are creamy and glide-on easily without tugging at the delicate eye area. One side features a darker matte hue, while the other side is a vibrant metallic from the same color range. So, if you’re looking for a great eye pencil to define and accentuate your eyes, look no further. These are winners! I have swatched them all here.
The Sephora Sale is an excellent excuse to pick up a new lipstick (or two). When it comes to price point, formula, lasting power and packaging, the lipsticks I always recommend are the Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips 2. Simply put, they are happiness in a tube! The formula is super moisturizing, have great lasting power and the packaging is simply exquisite! Plus, the tube is refillable! You can always repurchase refills here.
Sephora’s own line of professional makeup brushes rival any high-end brushes I’ve tried. They don’t shed and do an excellent job picking up just the right amount of product. I have reviewed some of these brushes here. If you need a particular brush or are simply looking to add to your kit, this is the time!
I love just how mindless a tinted lip balm is for me! The formula makes it perfect for every day, very effortless to apply on-the-go and extremely versatile regardless of time of day, occasion or season. Essentially fail-safe! For me, it makes sense to have a product that provides sheer color and conditions the lips. My recent obsession has been the YSL Rouge Rock’N Shine in the shade no. 10 Pink Bass, a beautiful pinky coral color with an iridescent pearl star in the middle and featuring plant-based shimmers. It’s such a dream to apply and the more you apply, the more the color intensifies on your lips.
This is only eye makeup remover I have used over the past few years. I always use the Sephora semi-annual sale to stock up and pick up a travel size. A review of this product is available here.
Definitely use the sale discount to treat yourself to a new spring/summer scent. Or pick up a fragrance for a loved one or for Mother’s Day. Some of the scents I love to gift and to buy for myself are: Jo Malone Peony & Blush Suede, Chanel Gabrielle, Chanel Chance Eau Tendre and Hermes Twilly Eau Poivree. These scents are effortless, elegant and chic. They’re not overpowering and linger for most of the day.
These candles come with a hefty price tag, but the aromas smell so natural! There are no synthetic or artificial notes that I detect. Every now and then during the sale, I allow myself to splurge. I have previously mentioned some of these Jo Malone candles here. They are the perfect scent for the home, something to liven up the air, especially now as we’re spending more time indoors. Some of my favorite scents are Peony & Blush Suede, Wood Sage & Sea Salt and Lime Basil & Mandarin.
Personally, I think the sale is an excellent time to try new products or stock up on old favorites. I have a previous post here that details some of the products I simply can’t live without and another post covering some of my recent Sephora splurges here and here.
