Packing your beauty bag can be stressful! You want to ensure no essential gets left behind while sticking to the space available and respecting weight requirements. Skincare-related issues are no fun in general, let alone while traveling. So, I typically don’t rely on hotel-provided toiletries and prefer to always bring my own. Plus, we can all agree that traveling is not a time to experiment with the skin by trying new things! My recent trip to Miami provided just the right opportunity to take an inventory of my beauty stash and select those products that aim to keep the skin balanced, clear and refreshed. Here’s What Beauty Products To Pack For A Beach Getaway …
In today’s post, I’m sharing with you all the skincare, haircare and body care products that I brought with me on our beach getaway to Miami. If you’re curious to see how I kept my makeup from melting off like an ice cream cone and which products perform well when the heat is turned up to the max, refer to my Summer-Proof Makeup post here. There is also a previous article discussing How To Manage Your Skincare Needs When Traveling here. If space is really limited and you can only bring the bare necessities, I’m sharing with you My Minimalist Skincare Routine here. And lastly, I uploaded our Miami Travel Guide (what we did, where we stayed, where we ate, what I wore) here. Hope you find these articles helpful.
Cleanser
Double cleansing is probably the step that has had the biggest impact on how my skin looks and feels when I’m away from my typical surroundings. You can find a detailed guide on How To Double Cleanse here. But having said, I’m not a proponent of spending hours by the hotel bathroom sink to do my skincare routine. You want to ensure you clean your skin properly and efficiently. The first step is always to remove my makeup. I’ve been using my current favorite, the Tarte Micellar Water (reviewed here) and love how quickly and well in gets the job done. One of my favorite cleansers, the Fresh Soy Facial Wash, comes in a deluxe size, so I never travel without it. It’s gentle, so it will not aggravate my skin. I have a detailed post on this cleanser here. If I travel for more than 3 days, I always bring my mini Foreo Luna for a deeper cleanse. It’s a device I’ve come to rely on. It might look a bit intimidating, but I share what it is, what it does and how to use in a previous post here. It’s been game-changing.
Toner
Applying a toner is the very last step in my cleansing routine. I’ve been using the Fresh Rose Toner for years now and previously raved about it here. It does such a great job balancing the skin’s pH levels and kick-starting the hydrating and moisturizing process. My skin is left feeling fresh and revitalized. Luckily, Sephora offers a mini size that’s perfect for traveling.
Treatment Products
Moisturizers only penetrate the first layer of the skin, so adding a treatment product to your skincare routine can make a big difference in your results. I packed a few serums with me primarily because they each serve a different function. In the mornings, I’ve really enjoyed using the Drunk Elephant C-Firma, a vitamin C-packed serum that works to brighten the skin, while diminishing the appearance of UV photo damage and aging. At night, I like to alternate between Drunk Elephant TLC Framboos, a multi-tasking AHA/BHA serum, and Drunk Elephant A-Passioni Retinol. There are detailed reviews on all these products from Drunk Elephant here and here.
And I couldn’t forget about my eyelashes. A few months ago, I started using Revitalash Eyelash Conditioner based on a recommendation from my friend Rebeca. Within a week, I began to notice results. My lashes appeared longer, stronger and more defined. I’ve been using it every night since.
Moisturizer
The new Tarte Moisturizing Cream with Babassu, which I previously covered in detail here, is an all-purpose moisturizer. Thus, great for traveling. I use it for day and night, after cleansing my skin and applying my serums. At night, I like to layer the Pixi Jasmine Oil over the Tarte Babassu Cream to seal in moisture and calm the skin. It smells divine and it’s such a treat for the skin. You can find an in-depth review of this oil here.
My hands always feel dry, so it is imperative that I bring with me a good product that nourishes the skin and nails. Moroccan Oil has recently expanded their range to include body care, spf and some skincare. Their new hand cream feels very lush and luxurious, it’s become a fast favorite. It hydrates and nourishes without leaving a greasy residue. Even my husband is a fan!
Sunscreen
If there is one piece of advice I can offer you is wear sunscreen every day, rain or shine! It’s one of the best things you can do for yourself! I recently discovered Supergoop mineral formulas and have been obsessed! Their Smooth&Poreless 100% Mineral SPF40 has been my face spf of choice! It has a beautiful, universal tint, no white cast, plus it also doubles up as a makeup primer that can successfully conceal pores! Win, win!
Bodycare
In terms of body care, I really tried to keep things to a minimum and choose products that serve multiple functions. For instance, the Moroccan Oil Pure Argan Oil can be used for the hair, as well as to condition and nourish the body after a day at the beach. It’s not greasy, melts beautifully into the skin and smells divine. I also brought one of the new Jo Malone fragrances, Willow & Amber. It comes in a limited-edition bottle and features notes of cashmere wood, vetiver and amber. It’s fresh, clean and captivating. A great scent for the warmer months.
Haircare
I’ve been raving about the new Kérastase Nutritive 8HR Magic Night Serum for weeks now! It’s an overnight treatment aiming to deliver 8 hours of nourishment for the hair. And it delivers! You can read about my experience and see photos here. I simply had to bring it along with me, especially when there’s beach, ocean, pool and sun involved!
So, this is everything I brought with me to Miami. It might seem like quite a lot, but each product is different and serves a different function. Now I’d love to know your travel skincare essentials! Please share in the comments below.

A lovely selection of products. I agree I only take products I have used regularly on holiday with me, as it definitely is not a time to try new ones out.
