Admittedly, I’m not a fan of leave-in overnight masks. Most of them have a sticky texture and I seldom see results. This however, is an exception: the new Saturday Skin Yuzu Vitamin C Sleep Mask! I’ve been curious about Saturday Skin products for a while now. They seem to be all over the skincare community on Instagram. ‘Make every day a Saturday’ (ie, stay up late, sleep in, wake up happy, bright and refreshed) is their motto and I particularly like that. But motto aside, they’ve quickly gained a cult-like following with their millennial pink packaging and natural yet effective formulas. They are also a Clean At Sephora brand.
I was very excited to have the opportunity to test their latest release, the Saturday Skin Yuzu Vitamin C Sleep Mask. This product was sent to me complimentary from the brand with the stipulation to test their mask and create an honest Instagram post only detailing what I like and don’t like about the product and how I use it. There was no obligation to write about it on the blog, but I personally think this is such a great mask and very well priced that I wanted to feature it on the blog. Read on for details …
Saturday Skin Yuzu Vitamin C Sleep Mask
The Saturday Skin Yuzu Vitamin C Sleep Mask is an overnight mask with a unique and refreshing, lightweight, jelly-texture with encapsulated beads of multiple vitamins (A, C, F). The star ingredient is the Yuzu fruit, which contains 3-times more Vitamin C than any other citrus. The mask works overnight to soothe the skin, support a better barrier function and improve dryness. The result is skin that feels hydrated, rejuvenated and smoother.
Key Ingredients:
- Yuzu Peel Extracts and 100% Pure Korean Yuzu Seed Oil– deliver powerful antioxidant and vitamins (Vitamins C and E) to protect the skin from daily stressors and to enhance skin luminosity
- Encapsulated Beads of Vitamins A, C and F – help de-stress the skin’s appearance and lack of moisture
- Niacinamides – minimize the look of pores and improve uneven tone and texture
- Retinol – smooths and refines skin texture while visibly reducing signs of aging
- Peptides – firm the skin to enhance a younger-looking appearance
- Seabuckthorn Oil – promotes skin hydration and helps with collagen production, thus increasing skin plumpness
This mask works for all skin types. It is dermatologist tested and formulated without parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances and synthetic colors. It is a Clean At Sephora product.
My Experience
As I stated in the beginning, I didn’t have high expectations for this mask. I don’t typically gravitate toward overnight masks primarily because of previous textures that were sticky and an inability to see results. I do have one other overnight mask that I really like and find incredibly hydrating. That is the Fresh Overnight Rose Hydrating Mask previously mentioned here. I find the Saturday Skin Yuzu Mask quite similar in terms of how it feels on the skin and how it leaves the skin feeling the next morning.
There are a several reasons I love the Saturday Skin Yuzu Mask:
- It has a lightweight, jelly-texture that feels incredibly refreshing on the skin immediately after application
- The texture is not at all sticky
- It is a multi-tasking mask that works while you sleep targeting skin concerns like aging, dullness, dryness, pores and texture
- You don’t have to do anything to remove it from the skin
- I really enjoy Vitamin C, Niacinamide and Retinol in my skincare products and have a previous post here that details how I typically like to combine and layer these skincare ingredients
I have been using this mask for the past two weeks. The recommendation is to use it 3-5 times per week and I have been using it about 3 times per week. I apply it at night after my moisturizer and leave it overnight. You don’t have to layer an oil after (although you could, if you so desire). I personally find this mask to work great on its own, so I typically skip the oil. The mask seems to deliver incredibly hydration and moisture. My skin in the morning looks revitalized, refreshed and the texture appears bright and luminous.
Note:
Although I am currently almost 8 months pregnant, the concentration of Retinol included in this mask is not very high so it felt safe for me to use it. But please do check with your doctor if you are pregnant and would like to use this mask or any other product containing Retinol.
Final Thoughs
There’s nothing not to love about this mask. It feels so therapeutic and indulgent, I always look forward to using it. I like that it works its magic overnight and I don’t have to do anything to remove it. It is also priced very reasonably.
