When it comes to foundations, I’m picky! I don’t get impressed very easily. While I road test quite a lot of foundations, I dedicate the time to review only those that truly stand out to me, such as the La Mer Soft Fluid Foundation previously covered in detail here or the recently launched and budget-friendly Rimmel Lasting Finish Breathable Foundation reviewed here. The Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick is unlike any other foundation I’ve tried thus far. But nonetheless one that demands attention. It is a unique cream foundation designed to adjust to the body’s own temperature. Thus blending effortlessly into the skin to reveal a smooth, seamless finish. It ticks all the boxes for me and I simply had to share it with you today.
Coverage
The Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick is a full coverage foundation, one of the best I’ve tried. It has the ability to effectively conceal and camouflage imperfections, discoloration and scarring, without accentuating fine lines. And it does that while still looking like natural skin and feeling weightless. The innovative formula and triangular-stick design also allow for this foundation to be used as a concealer. You can easily spot cover trouble areas without the need to reach for concealer. As a base product, this foundation offers the best of both worlds.
Texture and Finish
The formula is highly-concentrated, so a little goes a long way. The intense concentration of pigment allows for full coverage while maintaining a weightless feel on the skin. The texture is very creamy and blends really well. That means you could sheer it out and create a medium coverage as well, if you so desire. The finish is a natural-looking, soft matte.
Packaging
The Vanish Foundation Stick is contained in a metallic tube packaging featuring Hourglass’s signature color. It is slick and fits perfectly in any makeup bag, regardless how small. The foundation stick is designed in a triangular-shape for easy application even in hard to reach places, such as around the nose and the inner corner of the eye.
How to Apply
The best way to apply this foundation is using a buffing brush, such as the Hourglass Vanish Foundation Brush. I lightly dot the foundation across my cheeks, forehead, down my nose and along the jawline. Then I blend it in using circular motions until I reach the desired finish. For me on most days, that’s medium coverage. I have also used my Artis Palm Brush Mini (reviewed here) and a damp beauty blender and really liked the results.
My Experience
Here’s a makeup look featuring the Hourglass Vanish Foundation Stick which I’ve been using for about two weeks now. For your reference, this is the shade Buff. I’ve used this foundation for work days when my makeup is more natural and understated, but also for nights when I go out and opt for a full-coverage more glamorous look, or for beach days when I look for lighter coverage. I’ve not been disappointed. On the lips, I’m wearing the Hourglass Girl Lip Stylo in Liberator, a sophisticated matte berry shade, incredibly comfortable and hydrating.
On my combination skin, in the hot and humid Florida weather, the Hourglass Vanish Foundation wears really well throughout the day without oxidizing or separating. It does seem to become a bit dewey around the nose and cheek area after about 4-5 hours, but that seems to happen to me with most foundations, especially in the warmer months. Nothing quite like the Florida summers, that’s definitely an experience in itself!
As it usually goes with matte, full coverage foundations finding the right shade is paramount. Hourglass has released 32 shades suitable for every complexion. I was kindly sent the shade Buff which, at the moment, is a bit too light and yellow-toned for my skin. But because the foundation blends so well and I do like to use a bronzer on the daily, I can still wear it without the color looking unnatural on my skin. I managed to also grab some samples from Sephora and have swatched for you the shades Shell and Nude, as seen in the above photo.

I usually shy away from stick foundations because they can be heavy and have an unnatural finish, but this one by Hourglass sounds lovely! I really like that it’s buildable and doubles as a concealer, not to mention the stick form makes it travel-friendly. I saw this at Sephora during the VIB sale and now regret not trying it out. Will have to make a note of trying it again in store next time! Thanks for the review!

Great review, Cat! I’m thinking about trying it with the new hourglass powder💛 I love your blog posts! I’ve been meaning to start blogging more, but I volunteered to keep my granddaughter for a couple months while she waits for a spot to open up in her new school. She has more energy than any little person I’ve known😁 and I have very little extra time. (I keep her 24 hours a day since they live in a different city a couple hours away) In the meantime, I enjoy reading other’s blogs 😉

It’s always such a pleasure to read your comments here and on Instagram. Thank you for your support, it means more than you know. SO happy you enjoy my posts and find them helpful. I completely understand the blogging struggle and have yet to find that happy medium. My son is 3, very rambunctious and energetic. He’s home most of the time and as you say, it’s very difficult to do anything else. I do enjoy blogging and find it therapeutic. I am hoping that as he gets older and goes to school full time, I’ll have more time. But in the mean time, I’ll try to make the most of the time I do have with him at home. Time definitely flies, they grow way too quickly! Hope you get a chance to try this Hourglass foundation. I have my eyes on that new Veil powder as well. It looks so nice!
Thank you again for stopping by. Have an amazing time with your granddaughter. I was actually raised by my grandparents and those were the best times and some of my fondest memories.
