I have been searching for the perfect all-in-one face palette for a few years now. To be more specific, since I hit pan on every shade included in my Hourglass Ambient Surreal Palette, previously reviewed in detail here. There just hasn’t been a face palette to really get me that excited! The problem lies in that it’s not easy to create a product for the face where all the colors complement each other beautifully and no color is a dud. The colors have to pair well for the eyes, face and cheeks. The pan size has to be right, the formula has to be stellar and the packaging has to be slick. Am I asking for too much?
Charlotte Tilbury is up for the challenge! The new Gorgeous, Glowing Instant Look In A Palette is a limited-edition face palette with all new, never-before seen shades released exclusively for the 2019 holiday season. The colors are not available for individual purchase and come housed in the most beautiful, festive, starry compact, making the palette that much more covetable.
Charlotte Tilbury Gorgeous, Glowing Instant Look In A Face and Eye Palette
The concept of the new Charlotte Tilbury Gorgeous, Glowing Instant Look In A Palette is that you can beautify your face in a flash, without having to think too much about how to pair colors and put too much effort into working with the formula. It’s a simple concept. Yet not many brands are able to achieve it for all the reasons I mention in my introductory paragraph.
Charlotte’s Gorgeous, Glowing Instant Look In A Palette features 7 new shades for eyes, face and cheeks, flattering any complexion and all skin types.
Let’s take a closer look at each of the shades:
- Eye Brighten – shimmery, frosted soft pink perfect for the inner corner and to highlight the browbone
- Enhance – shimmery mauve-brown for the eyelid
- Eye Smoke – matte maroon to accentuate the outer corner and define the eyes
- Face Bronze – warm-toned bronzer with very subtle shimmer to add a sun-kissed look to the cheeks
- Cheek Swish – shimmery champagne pink blush. I use this as a highlight, on top of the cheekbones
- Cheek Pop – matte rose-pink blush for a healthy-looking flush to the cheeks
- Face Highlight – shimmery golden highlight to add luminosity to the complexion
Swatches below (top to bottom) are single swipes and correspond to numbers 1-7 above.
In true Charlotte Tilbury fashion, the formula is incredibly finely milled and applies seamlessly. The colors work beautifully together, enhancing the complexion without masking and covering the face. The single compact, size of the pans, generous mirror and slick packaging make this palette THE perfect travel companion as well!
How I Use the Palette
My very first impression when I opened the palette was that this is a product where I know with certainty I’ll be using every single shade! They made it so easy and done it so smartly!
I love all the colors included and find them all very flattering. It did take a little getting used to when it came to the size of the bronzer (no.4) and blush (no. 6). Most products I use in this category typically come in their own compact. So I had to switch to smaller brushes that fit the pan size. For bronzer, I’ve been using this brush here. For blush, I find that this particular brush here works the best. I love shade no. 5 which is meant to be used as a blush, but I tend to use it as highlight on the cheeks or to accentuate the inner corner and brow bone.
The texture of the two blushes (no. 5 and 6) and highlight (no. 7) is a bit more powdery than typical Charlotte Tilbury formulas, but still just as silky. You simply have to make sure to tap the excess off the brush before transferring the color onto the face. I was also surprised by eye shade no. 2. It seems quite rich and vibrant in the pan, but doesn’t appear as pigmented on the eyes. However, still a striking color.
Comparison with Film Star Bronze and Glow Duo
The bronzer from the palette is warmer that the one included in Charlotte’s famous Film Star Bronze and Glow Duo, but I quite like it as it lends a subtle sun-kissed look to the face. Below are swatches of the two bronzers side by side for your reference. I’m still sporting a tan. Believe it or not, the temps here in Florida are still in the 90’s!! So, the Film Star bronzer doesn’t show as well on my skin tone at the moment. The highlighter from the Instant Look In A Palette appears a bit cooler-toned on me than the Film Star highlighter. But both are equally beautiful and easy to work with.
My Experience
Below is a makeup look I wore to a family dinner over the weekend and using primarily Charlotte Tilbury products.
- I started out by first applying my Charlotte Tilbury WonderGlow Primer (previously reviewed here) all over the face, followed by the new Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Foundation (covered in great detail here).
- Next, I set my T-zone using Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Powder (review here).
- Then it was time to put into the action the latest Charlotte Tilbury Gorgeous, Glowing Instant Look In A Palette for the eyes and cheeks. I used the palette as instructed and going in the order indicated on the packaging.
- I finished the eyes using my beloved Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo (in the shade Soft Brown) on the brows and applying a coat of mascara Charlotte Tilbury Full, Fat Lashes Mascara.
- On the lips, I’m wearing Hot Lips 2 in Amazing Amal, such a beautiful berry color.
Final Thoughts
The palette is designed as one of those sweep-and-go instant fabulous products that includes everything you need to finish, brighten, bronze and highlight the face in a single compact. And it truly delivers!
The new Charlotte Tilbury Gorgeous, Glowing Instant Look In A Face and Eye Palette is available at Sephora, Nordstrom, Cult Beauty and on their own website here.
