I just can’t believe how quickly this summer is zooming by. But it’s still summertime and I plan to make the most of it. One of the things on my bucket list this season is to spend as much time as I can at the beach. Ocean tides and good vibes! Yes, please. And rolling with the theme, I deemed it appropriate to post my Beach Bag Essentials. I’m not talking about the basics (swimsuit, towel, sunglasses), but some beauty must-haves I like to toss in my beach bag before hitting the sand. Because you just never know what the day will bring!
Sunscreen
This is an easy one. Applying sunscreen on your face is a daily must, rain or shine. Whether you’re off to the beach or to the boardroom. Always go for a broad spectrum spf with a protection factor of at least 30. My recent go to has been Supergoop Smooth&Poreless 100% Mineral Matte Sunscreen SPF40. It has a beautiful, universal tint, no whitecast, plus it also doubles up as a pore-minimizer! Re-applying sunscreen is key and such an easy step if you opt for a mist. I really like the Supergoop Defense Refresh Setting Mist Broadspectrum SPF 50, which comes in a mini version and limited-edition floral print by fashion designer Rebecca Taylor. Simply shake and spritz all over the face throughout the day.
Makeup
When it comes to makeup, there are a few key items I like to bring, just in case we end up going to a restaurant or meeting up with friends. I’ll break it down into categories and tell you why these products are in my beach bag.
-
For the face:
Chanel Les Beiges Water-Fresh Tint (shade 4 Medium Plus, reviewed here), Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Powder (shade 30 Natural mentioned here) and Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Wand in the shade Goldgasm (covered in great detail here).
If I need to look a bit more polished, these are the face products I reach for. The Chanel Water Tint is the perfect mixture of hydration and color. It evens out the complexion and corrects the color while feeling weightless on the skin. I have a detailed review with before and after photos here. Next, I dab the Charlotte Tilbury Wand in Goldgasm on the top of my cheeks, the tip of my nose and inner corner. It looks very natural on the skin and is so easy to use. I quickly set everything in place with the Chanel Les Beiges Powder. It provides such a natural finish and looks almost imperceptible on the skin. Since it layers beautifully without looking cakey, it can also be used to control shine and absorb any excess sweat and oil from the face. And it comes in a beautiful compact with a good-size mirror and a brush.

For the eyes:
Urban Decay Waterproof Perversion Mascara and Kat Von D Signature Eyebrow Pencil in Medium Brown.
Honestly, when I’m at the beach I cannot be bothered with eye makeup. A quick swipe of mascara and filling in my brows is as far as I’ll go. The iconic Urban Decay Perversion Mascara is now available in a waterproof version. I’ve been using it almost daily since I got it and it does NOT budge!! Considering the Florida heat and humidity, that’s impressive! My eyebrows are practically non-existent, so I almost always have to fill them in. Yes, sometimes even when I go to the beach. I personally prefer the Kat Von D Signature Eyebrow Pencil over the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz. The tip is just as fine, but the Kat Von D Signature Pencil does a better job grabbing the skin and lasts a lot longer on me that the Brow Wiz.

For the lips:
Chanel Coco Gloss in shade no. 744 Subtil, a warm peachy-pink shade with ultra-fine gold shimmers running thru it.
Lip glosses are just so effortless, yet they can instantly make you feel more alive and put together. The Chanel formula is non-sticky, very comfortable on the lips and very hydrating.
Hair
Either before leaving for the beach or as soon as I get to the beach, I apply the Moroccan Oil Mending Infusion on my ends to protect and prevent them from drying and splitting. The Moroccan Oil Dry Texture Spray is one of my haircare staples. I use it as dry shampoo. For instance, if we’re at the beach and decide to go to a restaurant, I quickly spray it and massage it on my roots to absorb any excess oil or sweat from being out in the sun or from wearing a hat. It’s the perfect hair refresher!
Also featured in the photos is one of my favorite nail polishes for summer, Chanel Turban. You can see in detail on my nails below. It’s the perfect orange red, such a lively yet very wearable shade and perfect for summer.

Thank you, Sarah. The nail polish is one of my favorite coral shades, very universally flattering. Hope you’re making the most of what’s left of summer. I felt this year it went by so quickly! ~ Cat L.
