There’s no denying this has been the year of Anastasia Beverly Hills. The queen of brows has taken the entire makeup world by storm first with her infamous Glow Kits, packing a punch with her Modern Renaissance Eyeshadow Palette and now bringing us a very exciting and much anticipated collaboration with Mario Dedivanovic. Mario is one of my favorite makeup artists, mainly known for creating Kim Kardashian’s flawless look from sultry smokey eyes to every day ‘no makeup’ makeup looks. Although I’m not a Kardashian fan in general, I can’t deny lusting over their makeup, so Mario’s collaboration with Anastasia got my attention right away.
I’m going to dive right in to tell you about the shining star of this collaboration, the Master Eyeshadow Palette. I typically prefer a quad or quint when it comes to eyeshadows, as I find bigger palettes more difficult to travel with and more often than not, some of the shades end up going untouched. However, this is one of the most exciting palettes I’ve ever encountered with a variety of flattering and stunning shadows. As soon as it arrived I had to post a picture on Instagram ( @DailyCatL ) because it was too great not to share.
The Shades
The Anastasia Master Palette by Mario features 12 neutral and jewel-toned shades in a range of matte to metallic finishes, all conveniently packed up in one palette, all unique and eye-catching. There are exciting browns, bronzes and golds, a stunning olive green and a bold (yet very wearable) gunmetal shade. It is the kind of palette that truly anybody can wear, as the shades are beautiful neutrals meant to compliment and enhance regardless of skin tone or complexion.
Here is a close-up of the shades in indoor and outdoor lighting, for your reference.
The swatches from top to bottom, corresponding to the shades in the palette from left to right, are:
- Hollywood – metallic wheat gold with a satin finish
- NYC – rich chocolate brown with a satin finish
- Kim – tan with a satin finish
- Muse – rose gold with a satin finish
- Marina – champagne with a metallic finish
- Claudia – slate with a velvet finish
- Lula – soft taupe with an ultra-matte finish
- Isabel – burnt orange with an ultra-matte finish
- Violeta – dark chocolate with an ultra-matte finish
- 5th Ave – gold leaf with a metallic finish
- Bronx – metallic olive with a satin finish
- Paris – gilded brown with a satin finish
All the swatches are single swipes, which goes to show just how rich and pigmented the shades are.
The Formula
The formula is rich, creamy and super pigmented. The shades glide effortlessly and blend easily. They don’t crease and seem to last for a good 7-8 hours. There is some fallout to the shades, but the formula is not dry or chalky. I love that these shadows are formulated without parabens, sulfates and phthalates.
The Packaging
As much as I adore the shades, I will never come to terms with the fact that they come packaged in a cardboard palette with magnetic closure. The cardboard packaging doesn’t seem to protect the product very well and the top of the palette seems to flop in place around the magnetic closure. The magnet does appear to keep the palette shut and I haven’t had any issues with it not closing properly, but I would recommend storing and keeping the palette lying flat to avoid any issues with it opening. Included with the palette is a dual-end brush: a shader brush for packing on the shadows and a blending brush for working the shades. Although I prefer to use my own brushes to apply makeup, I will say this brush works well and I prefer it to the brushes included with any of the Urban Decay Naked palettes.
For the eye look above, I started out by taking the shade Kim and sweeping it all over the lid, then using Violeta on a fluffy brush and blending that right below the crease of my eye. I used Lula to blend into the crease and added Isabel right on top of Lula to further enhance the shape of the crease. I couldn’t resist and had to use the olive shade Bronx into the outer corner of the eye. Next I used a flat brush and patted Muse on the outer third of the lid, going over Bronx and buffing it out. I used Marina just in the center to add a little shimmer, you wouldn’t think this makes much of a difference but it adds a little pop and helps the eyes look instantly lifted. To highlight my brow bone and inner corner of the eye I used a mix between Hollywood and 5th Avenue.
The palette is limited edition marking a one-time collaboration between Anastasia Beverly Hills and celebrity makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic, making it that much more covetable.

This palette is gorgeous! I bought some of the early ABH palettes (Maya Mia, Tamanna) and some shades were great and others weren’t real pigmented. By the time Renaissance came out, all the shadows had been reformulated and they were gorgeous. Smooth, velvety, consistent! I bet this is the same and I love their new formulation. Such a pretty palette!
Cat says
Hi Janine, thank you for stopping by. Indeed, the shades are all super pigmented and such a lovely, velvety consistency, truly a dream to work with. Hope you get a chance to check this palette out!
Now off to catch up with your blog as I just received your email notification about a new post! ~ Cat L.

Edra, thank you so much for such kind sweet comments! I really appreciate it. The palette is indeed gorgeous, I’ve never been so excited about an eyeshadow palette since Tom Ford Honeymoon. Keep your eyes on my Instagram page though as I will be giving away one of these palettes. Good luck! ~ Cat L.

It looks SO SO gorgeous on you Cat! I’m so happy that I managed to grab this, have been anticipating it for sooo long. I am also with you about the cardboard packaging! It honestly astounds me. For years and years they’ve used it and I think it’s about time to at least invest in something better, especially for how much money they make and for the sake of quality. Packaging puts me off soooo much, it’s why I’ve returned some things in the past because of the packaging (namely Natasha Denona products, never again…). It just didn’t sit well with me. I love Norvina and she is so creative, but I hope they will invest in better packaging. Customers deserve that, at least.

Oh Mika, thank you so much for such a lovely compliment! I have to say the palette has exceeded my expectations in terms of quality, a huge improvement from their earlier offerings. Despite the cardboard packaging, it’s still probably my favorite palette at the moment. I skipped on the glow kits mainly because of the packaging, but I’m such a fan of Mario’s that I had to get my hands on this palette. It is so beautiful and versatile! ~ Cat L.
Regina says

I took notes on the shades you used and I’ll use them very soon. The look you’ve made is very gorgeous just the way I want my makeup to look like. Thank you very much for the mini tutorial, you should do this more often.

Such lovely comments to read this morning! Thank you so much, you made my day!
I tried to incorporate a lot of the shadows in the palette for the look I created for this post, but you most certainly don’t need to use all of them. The shadows are all so beautiful, so wearable and blend so easily, I’m really impressed. I do wish they came in a better package though, it’s the only gripe I have. Hope you enjoy this palette as much as I have.

Just loving the look you created very wearable and suits you skin tone and eye colour.
And as I said before you have such great taste I have no doubt I would absolutely adore this palette.
Cat says
Thank you, Esnath! You are too kind! The palette is indeed very wearable and no shade is a dud. I think you would really like it as we seem to enjoy the same things. ~ Cat L.
Jenny says
Wow I love the colors in the palette! I keep telling myself I don’t need another eyeshadow palette but this one is beautiful ❤️ I also really like the finished look on you! This one will go on my Sephora wishlist in anticipation for their VIB sale ??
Cat says
Jenny, thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment. That’s exactly how I felt too, kept trying to talk myself out of it. But for me, the selling point was just how wearable all of the shades are. I don’t think there is a shade in the palette that I will not be using. The formula is also really lovely, very velvety and very blendable. And if you manage to score it during the Sephora Sale, then that’s a real steal! ~ Cat L.
Anxhela says
Ahhhh Cat ?? You’re making me doubt my decision against purchasing this palette … it looks and sounds perfect. Love the look you created, but not more than your radiant self beauty ? Have a terrific day love
Cat says
Hi Anxhela! Oh, thank you so much, you are too kind to me! The palette is beautiful, it’s one of those ‘you don’t need but want’ type of products. My Naked palettes are a few years old and I feel the formula is not the same, they seem dry and chalky. Thus it was easy to justify the purchase! Hope you have a great rest of the week! ~ Cat L.
Kelly says
Ok so you are totally rocking this palette! Gorgeous look and gorgeous review!
Such a great run down and if I didn’t want this palette before, then I sure do now! I am hoping and praying that I shall be able to get my hands on it as its a beauty and one that I really do feel I would use a lot. Thank you for the drool worth pics that have made me smile and ‘eye heart emoji’ a lot!

So, I haven’t bought this yet. But I think it’s going to happen this weekend. What’s going to happen is this. It’s going to be in cart. and I’m accidentally going to click buy (I won’t realize it) and then when it arrives, I will realize the error of my ways and apologize and then keep all the errors that occurred in the mishap.

Great Review Cat! The colors are lovely and does look like it will work with any complexion. BtwYou look stunning ! ??
Anna O says
It’s such a shame that this as well as Modern Renaissance palette are not available from any UK website. I would have bought it, but I really wanted MR but it was sold out at a time. So I went on Sephora US site and added Mario palette to my basket, but by the time I actually bought it it was sold out 🙁 I purchased Huda Beauty palette, as some of the colours look gorgeous and I hope I won’t be disappointed. Love your very informative reviews Cat, I can be sure that you put attention to details and don’t miss out on anything.
Jennifer says
The shades you’ve picked look completely stunning on you! And gorgeous photos, you’ve really captured the beauty of the palette. So with you about the packaging though, I can’t stand cardboard packaging! Give me some quality please! Loved reading your review lovely!
