Excitement levels always run high whenever I get to check out a new ZOEVA release! This iconic European brand has quickly become one of my favorite beauty brands, rivaling ultra-high-end designers such as Chanel, Dior and Tom Ford and always, always beating them in terms of pricing!
This summer, ZOEVA curated a versatile edit of products meant to inspire and help you create your own, unique summer look. Think dewey, fresh, sun-kissed skin that radiates a soft, luminous, healthy glow! The ZOEVA Summer 2017 Compilation features a variety of products from strobing gels (so innovative!) to a highlighting powder palette and gorgeous bamboo makeup brushes to add to your collection! I have lots to show you, but today I will focus on the brushes.
One of the first things I quickly learned when I got into makeup was that the tools we use can make a world of difference. Not all makeup brushes are created equal when it comes to product application and final results. Zoeva’s high performing brushes not only look beautiful, but are also considered among the best in the business, tried-and-true and donning the seal of approval from makeup artists and beauty enthusiasts alike!
The ZOEVA Summer Compilation is such a wonderfully curated edit that it came as no surprise to see it feature two beautifully designed brushes from their Bamboo Collection: 110 Face Shape Brush and 105 Highlight Brush. These brushes are made of genuine bamboo wood with golden aluminum ferrules. The brush handle is crafted and refined by hand, such a rare trait these days when almost everything is mass-produced! It makes every ZOEVA Bamboo brush a unique piece of art and a sought-after collectible!
The medium size of the handle makes these brushes convenient for travelling and for squeezing into smaller, on-the-go makeup bags. The soft, vegan taklon hairs allow these brushes to work well with any type of formula: powder, liquid, cream or gel. The design and bristle density ensure that each brush picks up just the right amount of product, helping create a flawless, air-brushed finish. These brushes don’t shed and clean easily using any brush cleaning product of your choice. I sometimes use my solid beauty blender cleanser available at Sephora here or if I have more time, I like to make my own cleaning solution as described here.
ZOEVA Face Shape Bamboo Brush / No. 110
If you’re looking for a face brush that works with all types of formulas (powders, liquid, creams and gels), picks up just the right amount of product and provides an airbrushed, runway model-like finish then look this way! The ZOEVA Face Shape Bamboo Brush does it all! It’s the ideal brush for detailed contouring along the cheekbones, temples and nose but I have also used this brush to blend in foundation and concealer, dust a flush of blush on my cheeks and set my undereye concealer with powder. The brush head is densely packed and has a dome-like shape which helps to evenly buff the product onto the skin ensuring a smooth application.
ZOEVA Highlight Bamboo Brush / No. 105
This luxurious highlighter brush is the perfect tool for highlighting your cheekbones, the tip of your nose, cupid’s bow and décolleté. I prefer this particular ZOEVA brush over any standard fan or angled brush mainly because of its shape! It’s such a precise brush! The tapered ends and pointy tip offer more control over product application, ensuring I don’t overapply my highlight and start looking like a disco ball! It’s very similar to the Real Techniques Setting Brush reviewed here but the ZOEVA Highlight Brush has slightly longer and fuller bristles that are more densely packed together. Although this is advertised as a highlighter brush, I find it works equally well for applying blush or for setting undereye concealer.
So these Bamboo brushes were my first introduction to the world of ZOEVA makeup tools and one of THE best discoveries this Summer! If you’re just starting out, or are looking to update your brush collection or just simply searching for ways to simplify your beauty routine by working with the right tools, then you will want to check these out! I am sure you know my feelings about the zoeva brushes, I can’t live without them. I am always replacing the only ones from my set so I never go with out. Plus I so agree with you this brand has put the designer brands to shame both in quality and price. Wonderful review as always Cat, and goodness these brushes are gorgeous! I really love the gold ferules + bamboo handle combo, it makes the brush look so chic and expensive, except they’re actually really reasonably priced. It’s such a shame that Cult Beauty doesn’t ship Zoeva brushes to the US 🙁 Do you know of any other retailers that will ship to the US?

Someone said in a previous comment that they have yet to read a negative review on ZOEVA and I agree. The feedback has been outstanding. They are a great brand. Space NK used to carry their products not too long ago but sadly they’re no longer available. You can order directly from ZOEVA’s website, I think shipping is about $9 flat fee to the US. Their price points are so incredibly affordable for the quality, that the shipping doesn’t seem that bad. I do hope that in the near future ZOEVA products will be more readily available here in the States. ~ Cat L.
