Let’s kick off Spring with a big, colorful post and swatches galore! Urban Decay is releasing a collection of 20 super shiny, cushiony soft, long-lasting lip glosses available March 15 online and March 29 in stores at Sephora, Ulta and Macy’s. I’ve been really blown away by their attention to detail: outstanding formula, innovative packaging and a seductive range of colors. From blaring brights to soft neutrals, whatever gloss frequency you’re on, they’ve got you covered.
Confession: I have a love/hate relationship with lip glosses. On one hand, I love the effortless, natural finish. Pop some gloss on your lips and you’re instantly a bit chicer and more put together. On the other hand, I am constantly battling the hair vs. lipgloss fight! But if there is any one brand who can change the lipgloss game, I knew it’d be Urban Decay!
Formula
In true Urban Decay fashion, the formula is outstanding. It’s incredibly creamy and feels like the most expensive silk velvet touching your lips. The delicate vanilla-mint scent is perfectly balanced. It’s not too overpowering, not too sweet and not too minty. It instantly delights the senses. The formula is very reminiscent of my beloved Buxom (full Buxom collection swatched here) and Chanel lip glosses: non-sticky but with just the right amount of grip and ultra-comfortable on the lips. Laced with Vitamin E and Peppermint Oil, this hydrating formula leaves the lips feeling soft and nourished.
Finish
The Urban Decay Hi-Fi Shine Lipglosses feature 4 different types of finishes:
- Cream – opaque finish achieved with one swipe as you’ll see in my swatches
- Sheer Cream – delicate sheer color with one swipe
- Holographic – sheer finish with multi-dimensional ultra-fine shimmers
- Metallic – opaque finish with ultra-fine shimmers
I typically steer clear of holographic and metallic lip products as I prefer a more natural and understated look. However, you simply have to try the Urban Decay Holographic and Metallic lip glosses. The shimmer is done in a very refined way, catching the light at every turn and making me feel a bit special every time I wear them. Candy Flip (holographic finish) and Shadowheart (metallic finish) are two of my favorites.
Packaging
The Urban Decay team have really outdone themselves when it comes to packaging. The sleek, modern component is clear so you can easily pick your shade and see how much there’s left. The metal frame makes the gloss look like it’s floating and can also serve as on-the-go mirror. Because the tube is flat, it fits perfectly not just in your handbag but also in your pocket. The paddle applicator picks up just the right amount of gloss and allows you to swipe an even layer. No need to double dip!

- Midnight Cowgirl – sheer cream, nude with gold shimmer
- Fuel – cream, light neutral nude
- 1993 – cream, medium brown
- Shadowheart – metallic, chocolate brown with gold sparkle
- Backtalk – cream, mauve-nude pink
- Rapture – cream, rose-mauve shade
- Beso – cream, deep pink-mauve
- Fireball – holographic, peach with pink sparkle
- Naked – sheer cream, nude with pearly pink shift
- Snapped – holographic, deep plum with blue shimmer

What I love most about these Urban Decay lip glosses is the way they feel on my lips. They are so comfortable and so easy to wear. I would highly recommend trying them out even if you’re not a lipgloss fan (yet). My top 3 favorite shades from the entire range are Backtalk, Fireball and Obsessed.

Ohhh what an amazing range of glosses! I just love the packaging, im a sucker when they design such luxe and slick tubes. Hahaha I totally agree with you on the hair vs gloss fight. This is the main reason why I avoid any sticky formulas on my lips especially with my long hair. I can’t the feeling of something wet or sticky in my lips, thats why i alwaaaays wear mattes. Bot even a sheer or satin lipstick. Great review babe and I love the clear swatches. There are too many beautiful shades to name them all hahah.

I love admiring the bright bold shades in the tube but I’m so glad you swatched them, as most of them are actually very wearable shades! I usually shy away from metallic and holographic glosses for the same reasons as you, but UD’s 2 holographic shades are beautiful, and I can see them layering over well on top of other shades for some extra shine.
