A while back, I started a series here on the blog called The Battle Of… It’s a post where I compare, contrast and crown a winner between two popular and similar beauty products. The series has been very well received and the feedback has been pleasingly overwhelming. Particularly, the majority of readers seemed to genuinely appreciate the information delivered in the format in which it is provided. There is a battle between the Jade Facial Roller and the Rose Quartz Roller (see which one won here) and a battle (and winner) between the Kevyn Aucoin Eyelash Curler and the Surrat Curler here. Recently, Armani Beauty launched a new concealer, expanding their iconic Luminous Silk range. Joining their cult-favorite Luminous Silk Foundation (previously reviewed here) is now the Luminous Silk Concealer.
But Armani has another popular, best-selling concealer, the Power Fabric Concealer, released last year. So with that in mind, was there a need for another Armani concealer? Does the newbie fill in a void not already covered by the Power Fabric Concealer? Is this just a marketing attempt to capitalize on the success and popularity of the Luminous Silk range?
Welcome to The Battle Of The Armani Concealer: Luminous Silk vs. Power Fabric!
Let’s begin the judging contest ….

What differences have you noticed between the Armani Luminous Silk Concealer and the Armani Power Fabric Concealer?
To answer this question let’s explore several different categories:
Texture – Both concealers have a fluid texture. Luminous Silk is slightly creamier than Power Fabric. They both apply easily and blend effortlessly.
Coverage – Luminous Silk is advertised as a medium coverage, multi-purpose concealer that highlights and conceals. Power Fabric is described as a full-coverage concealer that also color-corrects. In my personal experience, both concealers appear to have medium coverage that can be buildable without caking or creasing. I haven’t noticed any particular highlighting properties for Luminous Silk or any color-correcting properties for Power Fabric. So I would say, they’re both quit similar in terms of coverage and concealing properties.
Finish – Just as advertised, I find that Luminous Silk has a radiant, dewey finish while Power Fabric has a soft matte finish but that looks fairly natural on the skin.
Lasting Power – I find that both are long-wearing and last well throughout the day without creasing and without the need to touch up.
Color Range – Both concealers come in 20 shades. Although the range is not very extensive, the colors blend really well so it is easy to find a match. I have Luminous Silk Concealer in the shade 5.5 Medium with Neutral Undertones (which is an exact match for my skin) and Power Fabric in the shade 5.25 (a touch lighter that my skin right now, but an exact match for my skin in the wintertime when I don’t have a tan).
Packaging – Luminous Silk comes in a clear, frosted plastic tube available in 12 ml for $38. Power Fabric comes in a clear, glossy plastic tube size 6 ml for $34.

How does the Armani Luminous Silk Concealer preform in comparison to the Armani Power Fabric Concealer?
When it comes to coverage, lasting power and even texture, I find both concealers quite similar. The main difference I’ve noticed is in the finish. While Luminous Silk is not as highlighting as I would have liked it to be (compared for instance to It Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye which is very brightening), it does create a radiant, luminous finish, which I find more flattering. Power Fabric has a natural matte finish but once it’s set with powder, it looks and feels a bit drying.

Which one would you repurchase?
Thinking of size, price point and finish, I personally prefer the Armani Luminous Silk Concealer and would definitely repurchase it. I do wish it was a bit more brightening for the under-eye area. But perhaps I need to try out a lighter shade and that could solve the problem. I do find it very lightweight, ultra-smooth, comfortable and hydrating for my undereyes and that’s another reason why I would repurchase it. It doesn’t crease and it doesn’t accentuate fine lines. On most days I wear the Luminous Silk Concealer on its own, but if I have an event or special occasion, I follow the concealer routine outlined in my post How I Manage My Under-Eye Dark Circles, see here.
Here’s what’s on my face here:
- Drunk Elephant Umbra Sheer Physical Defense Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF30, previously reviewed here
- Tatcha Liquid Silk Canvas Primer – I was a big fan of the original and now an even bigger fan of this latest launch from Tatcha! The finish and results between this primer and the original are the same. The only difference is the texture and I find the liquid texture much easier to apply!
- By Terry CC Serum in the color Sunny Flash – I’ve been wearing it daily instead of foundation and have noticed improvement in my skin texture, tone and luminosity!
- Hourglass Mineral Veil Setting Powder – this is very finely milled, almost imperceptible on the skin
- Charlotte Tilbury FilmStar Glow and Bronzing Duo, previously reviewed here
- Tom Ford Blush in the color Love Lust, a beautiful peachy color with ultra-fine shimmers running thru it
- Charlotte Tilbury Color Coded Eyeshadow Palette in Copper Charged, reviewed and swatched here
- Shiseido Controlled Chaos Volumizing Mascara – it’s a good mascara, not sure I would repurchase it right away but it does do what it claims. It volumizes and lengthens the lashes without clumping or smudging
- Charlotte Tilbury Lip Liner in Pillow Talk, reviewed and swatched here
- Dior Addict Stellar Shine Lipstick in Dior Moon, a medium peachy color that feels incredibly balmy and nourishing on the lips. Plus the halo packaging totally steals the show! I posted about it on my Instagram here
If you’re interested in any of the Armani concealers, I would suggest purchasing from Sephora right now during their VIB Sale. Depending on your membership level, each concealer can be up to 20% off. See sale dates and coupon codes here. The Armani Luminous Silk Concealer is available here and the Armani Power Fabric Concealer is available here.
