If there is one beauty non-negotiable that I have in my everyday beauty routine that is wearing sunscreen. A great SPF has become the absolute priority of my skincare routine. Because let’s face it: I’m not getting any younger and the sun isn’t helping either!
It took me years to realize and understand how damaging the sun can be. It started with the sudden appearance of a few indistinct sun spots here and there on my nose and cheeks. Just the wakeup call I needed. I now wear SPF every day, rain or shine. However, it’s been a struggle to find a good product that doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin and doesn’t sting my eyes. A product that doesn’t have a white cast, is not greasy and blends easily into the skin. I’m not a huge fan of the standard SPF scent, so finding a sunscreen that is fragrance-free is also something desirable for me. But I think I have found some real gems in the sunscreens I’m about to share with you from Clarins, Supergoop and Elemis.
Note: I’m still loving and using the Drunk Elephant Umbra Sheer Physical Daily Defense SPF 30 reviewed here, the Dermalogica Dynamic Skin Recovery Moisturizer with SPF 50 covered in great detail here, and the La Roche Posay Anthelios Sunscreen Spray SPF 60 mentioned here. But today I would like to introduce you to some new sunscreens on the block.
Clarins Anti-Pollution Multi-Protection Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Oil-Free
The Clarins Anti-Pollution Multi-Protection Broad Spectrum SPF 50 offers multi protection against harmful UV rays, free radicals and pollution, while also providing anti-aging benefits! The formula is fluid, ultra-light, non-greasy and has NO whitecast. The exclusive Clarins Anti-Pollution Complex is combined with anti-oxidant extracts of organic Alpine Sanicle and Cantaloupe Melon. It comes in a small bottle, so I prefer to use it on my face, either on its own or under makeup. It melts into the skin beautifully and does not disrupt or affect the longevity of my makeup throughout the day.
Supergoop Everyday Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Oil-Free
The Supergoop Everyday Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 50 was a total ‘Instagram Made Me Do It’ purchase. But the skincare community has not failed me! I’ve been loving this spf! It’s the only product marketed as sunscreen that I’ve tried and that does not actually feel like sunscreen on the skin. It has a thicker cream-like consistency that applies and feels like a regular moisturizer. But fear not, it’s lightweight. It instantly absorbs into the skin and layers beautifully under makeup. It is oil-free and water-resistant, which makes it perfect for the pool or hanging out at the beach. There is NO detectable smell and absolutely NO whitecast. You can apply it all over the face and body. It does contain Avobenzone 3%, so it might not be for everyone if this is a substance you happen to be allergic to. It is cruelty-free, non-irritating and allergy-tested.
Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream SPF 30
My beloved ELEMIS Pro-Collagen Marine Cream (previously mentioned here) now comes with sun protection! It is now available in SPF 30. This new version has the same lightweight texture as the original. So it glides on and absorbs in a snap, delivering long-lasting hydration. What I like about the ELEMIS Pro-Collagen Marine Cream SPF 30 is that it’s an all-in-one product that looks after the skin’s health from sun up to sun down. Not only does it defend the skin against harmful UVA and UVB rays, but it also has anti-aging and skin-firming properties, addressing every skincare concern. It combines ingredients such as Padina Pavonica, Ginkgo Biloba, Rose and Mimosa. There is no streaking, no smell, no greasy residue. Thus, it’s perfect under makeup all year round. This product is free from artificial colors, parabens, SLS, SLES, DEA and mineral oils.
So now back to packing. I’m heading off to Europe for the next two and a half weeks. It’s a much-needed family vacation, setting off to explore new places (the Amalfi Coast), rediscovering some old favorites (Rome) and visiting family in Romania. I will try to post as often as I can here on the blog and on Instagram ( @DailyCatL ).
And if there is one piece of advice I can leave you with is wear SPF every day, rain or shine. It’s one of THE best things you can do for your skin!

When I was 18 I started using SPF everyday! Here in the Netherlands we dont have much sun but at an early age I saw how my moms face changed after she got 45+. She started using Eucerin with SPF which also made the sun spots look less darker. My favorites are the Korean sunscreens ofcours and also the one from Clarins! Have an amazing vacation my dear <3

I love the Clarins sunscreen too! I got the tinted version from US and it works well for me. Sadly, it is a bit dark for my skin tone but I overcome it by putting more white loose powder. Haha.

I love the Clarins sun cream. Looking forward to trying out Elemis! Is it a mineral cream?

Cat when it comes to sunscreen I’m not the biggest fan of the feel and residue it leaves behind . One thing that I do incorporate is creams that has spf in it ( which today are most ) , but in most cases they don’t have enough . This post has given me great insight ! thank you for opening my eyes to sunscreen that’s residue free, smell free and works just as great .
Wow your vacation sounds awesome , I hope you and the family had an amazing time 😊
