Today I wanted to share with you my summer staples. It’s a bit of a different post here on the blog, but I always enjoy seeing people’s outfits and favorites, so I figured why not try something new. This is not meant to be an in-depth review, but I will share my likes and dislikes of each product mentioned. Please let me know what you think of this type of blog post. Do you dig it? Should I turn it into a series?
Let me know in the comments below.
Summer Outfit
First off, let me just say global warming is a real thing and happening. This has been one of THE hottest summers on record! As such, my uniform these days has been denim shorts, a silky camisole and espadrilles.
- I love these particular denim shorts from Nordstrom because they’re high waisted and a bit stretchy, thus very forgiving. They are available here and I highly recommend them.
- Silky camisoles are staples in my wardrobe all year-round. I planned to pick up a few basics during the Nordstrom sale, but they sold out quickly in my size. But then I found this beautiful ivory lace trim cami here. I cannot even begin to tell you how happy I’ve been with it. It has beautiful button details and lace in the front along with adjustable straps. And it’s the perfect length. You can tuck it in or wear it over your pants or skirt. It’s such a great layering piece!
- My espadrilles are a bit of an investment piece. I bought them over 2 years ago and have worn them so much! I take them everywhere with me: walking all over the Amalfi Coast last summer (see How To Plan A Trip To The Amalfi here), hiking along the Pacific Coast Highway in California this past July and running errands every day. The cost per wear has made these a great investment. You can find a bit more affordable authentic Chanel espadrilles here. Another brand I love for espadrilles is Soludos. See their selections here.
Summer Accessories
I like to keep things simple when it comes to day-to-day summer accessories.
- Of course, sunglasses are essential. Mine are the Chanel Boy model and you can find them here.
- I love wearing a belt as I think it makes me look more put together. This particular Gucci one is available here and here. I have it in size 80.
- A great bag is another way to elevate your look. I absolutely love my Celine Nano and reviewed it in great detail in a previous post here. The only real downside to this bag is that the logo on the front rubs off over time, which you can also see in the photo above. Since I have the bag in a neutral grey color, I added a colorful scarf to brighten things up for the summer.
- This scarf is so beautiful and very affordable, see here.
- My hair is often up in the summer, so I always have a few SLIP Silk Scrunchies with me. I carry them in my bag, I have them in my car, basically I never leave the house without them. They are a bit pricey, but totally worth it in my humble opinion. They’re so gentle on the hair yet do an excellent job keeping the hair away from the face. I purchased mine from here, but they’re also available in a variety of colors here.
- Also shown in the photo is my Gucci Marmont Wallet. It’s small but fits all of my credit cards, notes, money and change. I purchased mine here but it’s also available for a great price here.
Summer Beauty
Summer Beauty is effortless and features products that perform well when the heat is turned up to the max. If you’re curious to see how I keep my makeup from melting off like an ice cream cone, refer to My Summer-Proof Makeup post here. I love a delicate, fresh, flowery scent like the Jo Malone Peony&Blush Suede. Some of the things I always like to pop in my bag are:
- a good hydrating mist to freshen up throughout the day
- dry shampoo to revive my hair on the go
- powder to keep shine at bay (shown here is the Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Powder, previously mentioned here and available in 7 shades only here)
- spf mist for re-applying sunscreen
- Lip Options (see details below)
My favorite hydrating mist at the moment is the Emma Hardie Plump & Glow. It’s an ultra-fine Hyaluronic Acid mist that sprays evenly on the face and boosts hydration. The scent is so uplifting, reinvigorating. It’s currently 20% off here and I highly recommend it. The Moroccan Oil Dry Texture Spray is one of my haircare staples! I use it as dry shampoo and I’m never without it. By now, we all know that re-applying sunscreen is key. This step is a lot easier when opting for an spf mist. I really like the Supergoop Defense Refresh Setting Mist Broadspectrum SPF 50, which comes in a mini version and limited-edition floral print by fashion designer Rebecca Taylor. Simply shake and spritz all over the face throughout the day.
In terms of lip color, my go-to summer trio has been from Charlotte Tilbury. I start by lining my lips with their iconic Pillow Talk Lip Liner over which I apply Hot Lips 2 in Glowing Jen. I quickly dab a bit of the Collagen Lip Bath in Rosy Glow (currently only available here) in the center of the lip and off I go.

Gorgeous girl! Love this lipstick on you, it really suits you. Have you designed your house interior yourself? It looks stylish ))

Hi Irina, thank you so much for your beautiful message. Yes, we have designed the interiors ourselves. But it’s been constant work. This past year, we’ve replaced some of the furniture, repainted some areas, changed art work to more modern pieces. It’s been interesting to see how our taste and style evolves from year to year. ~ Cat L.
