Are you ready for the summer? You better be as it’s officially here.
There is nothing that spells summertime chic to me than a dewy, radiant complexion with minimal makeup that enhances the skin’s natural beauty. But it’s tricky to achieve that effortless ‘no makeup’ makeup look, when temperatures are rising every day and the heat is turned up to the max. How do you keep from melting off like an ice cream cone? There are a few basics, utterly essential to ensuring your makeup will work with you rather than against you. The products mentioned in this post do that splendidly and a whole lot more, just keep reading for details.
Summer-Proof Makeup Products
Those who follow me on Instagram (@DailyCatL) know I spent last week in Miami with my family. My husband and I celebrated our 10-year wedding anniversary and we as a family celebrated Father’s Day. Miami Beach is one of my all-time favorite destinations (Positano is another top contender, read my Amalfi Coast Travel Guide here). I do plan a detailed Miami Travel Guide. Stay tuned for that.
But in today’s post, I’d like to show the makeup that I took with me. These products stayed in place throughout the hot and humid South Florida days and kept shine at bay. I hope you’ll enjoy this post and find it helpful.
Supergoop Smooth&Poreless 100% Mineral Matte Sunscreen SPF40 –
I recently discovered Supergoop mineral formulas and have been obsessed!! Their Smooth&Poreless 100% Mineral SPF40 has been my face spf of choice! It has a beautiful, universal tint, no whitecast, plus it also doubles up as a makeup primer that can successfully conceal pores!
Dermalogica HydraBlur Primer –
This works wonders at minimizing pores and fine lines, while imparting a luminous finish to the skin. You can also use this product to wipe away fallout from eye makeup!
Chanel Les Beiges Water-Fresh Tint –
I really like the concept of this product. The little pigments suspended in gel provide the perfect mixture of hydration and color. I like how refreshed my skin feels and how luminous it looks. This formula evens out the complexion and corrects the color while feeling weightless on the skin. I have a detailed review with before and after photos here. Currently, this product is only available here.
It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under-Eye Illuminating Waterproof Concealer –
This does an excellent job covering my dark circles and brightening the under-eye area. It has a creamy formula that doesn’t cake and doesn’t accentuate my fine lines. I have the shade Medium Natural.
Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Wand in Goldgasm –
This is one of those swipe-and-dab instant-fabulous products! It looks very natural on the skin and is so easy to use. I simply place the color on the back of my hand and using my beauty blender or brush, I then blend it onto the tops of my cheeks, the tip of my nose and inner corner. I use this after foundation and before I set my makeup with powder. There is a post on the entire Charlotte Tilbury Glowgasm Collection (with swatches and makeup looks) in a previous post here.
Chanel Les Beiges Powder –
I’ve been a fan of Chanel Les Beiges face powders for many years and I simply couldn’t pass up this limited-edition with the elegant Chanel logo written in cursive. It provides such a natural finish and it’s almost imperceptible on the skin. It’s an expensive product, but it does last a very long time. The shade I have is no. 30.
Charlotte Tilbury Glowgasm Palette –
I didn’t think I would like and use this palette as much as I have! You can read my thoughts on it, see swatches and a makeup look here.
Charlotte Tilbury Dreamgasm Eyeshadow Palette –
I’ve used Charlotte Tilbury eyeshadows since the brand launched a few years ago. Her formulas are incredibly finely milled and the shades look so flattering on the eyes. The packaging is inconspicuous and light, so these quad palettes make the perfect travel companions. I have a detailed review, swatches and a makeup look featuring the Dreamgasm palette in a previous post here.
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils –
The formula of the Urban Decay Glide-On Eye Pencils is one of my favorites. It’s creamy, waterproof, stays soft for blending for about 30 seconds, then dries down to a long-lasting finish that will NOT budge. And this is very important for me, considering I live in Florida, aka Humidity Central. The shades that came with me to Miami are from the Game of Thrones Collection. See a review and swatches here.
Urban Decay Liquid Eyeliner –
Recently, Urban Decay upgraded the design of their waterproof, sweat-proof, long wear liquid eye pen. The tip is now super smooth and incredibly precise to allow for an even easier application! Try this eye pen! I’ve been using it every single day this week in the Florida heat and humidity and it does NOT move!! That’s impressive!
Tarte Big Ego Mascara –
Tarte just launched this mascara earlier this month and I’ve been using it ever since. It’s vegan, ultra-black and flake-free, providing volume for 16 hours. The plant-powered formula with Babassu nourishes and conditions, thus there are added benefits to choosing this mascara. I have a detailed review with before and after photos here.
Elizabeth Arden x Reese Witherspoon Lipstick –
I adore the formula and color of this lipstick, plus it supports a very noble cause! 100% of the proceeds go to support UN Women, an organization dedicated to gender equality and empowerment of women. I have a detailed Instagram post and show you how this color looks on the lips here. The lipstick is currently only available here.
Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in Naked –
This is the perfect creamy, peachy-pink, nude color that goes with every outfit day or night! The formula is incredibly kind on the lips and has great staying power as well. I highly recommend trying out the Urban Decay Vice Lipstick formula. They’re one of my favorites.
Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray –
I swear by this setting mist! It’s been one of my staples for many years! The formula features patented Temperature Control Technology and is suitable for all skin types. The micro-fine mist keeps the makeup looking fresh for up to 16 hours, making it THE perfect summer essential.
While I was in Miami, I visited the Diptique boutique and picked up their Miami candle, also featured in my photo. The funny thing is I’d smelled this candle quite a few times during my frequent trips to South Florida. But I was never quite enchanted by the scent. Until this trip. All it took was a quick whiff! I’m not sure if it was my festive mood that day (our wedding anniversary + Father’s Day), but I instantly decided I had to have this candle. The fresh notes of magnolia blossoms, citrus and key lime charmed my senses. It’s now one of my favorite home scents for summer. You can find this candle only at the Diptique boutique within the Bal Harbour Shops in Miami or on their website here.
