When it comes to skincare, I can proudly say I’ve come a long way. Gone are the days when I would fret and ponder about showing my bare face. As a teenager, I struggled with acne, hyperpigmentation and the dark scars left behind. I tried a plethora of products from the drugstore and high-end, recommendations and products that I sought out myself based on research and reviews I read. My teenage skincare routine consisted on anything and everything that would dry up my oily skin and provide the much desired matte finish.
Inner Beauty
Over the years, I’ve come to realize that beautiful skin actually starts from within. Staying hydrated throughout the day and eating healthy, balanced meals with lots of fruits and vegetables are an intrinsic part of creating that flawless canvas that is your skin. I’ve stopped trying out products just because friends or other bloggers would recommend. I embrace my dewy bare face and when I find a product that works, I stick with it. I have used a lot of different brands and like most people, I am yet to find that one skincare brand that fits all. I typically gravitate toward products that are paraben-free and cruelty-free and thus prefer to save and pay a little extra for that.
Surface Beauty
Eye Cream
I start my daytime routine by applying an eye cream in circular motions along my orbital bone. My under eye area has always been one of my trouble spots. Partly because of genetics and mostly because of lack of sleep. When not managed properly, my under-eyes make me feel very self-conscious about my appearance. I feel like they can age me and make me look worn-out. I’m always on the hunt for a good eye cream, but seem to always go back to the same one: the Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado. I’ve been using it for years now. I started in my early 20s, when anti-aging wasn’t a concern. As I got older and become more interested in preventing aging, fine lines and crows-feet, I found myself reaching for creams that promised all sorts of miracles. Only to be left disappointed and going back to the Kiehl’s eye cream. While the cream is not advertised as anti-aging and combating fine lines, I personally find that it has done a great job managing those concerns by keeping the under-eyes nourished and moisturized. It’s thick and creamy and blends out to a velvety consistency that hydrates and brightens the under eye. It is my favorite eye cream to use in the morning.
Face Serums
Serums are not gimmicks! Moisturizers only penetrate the first layer of the skin, so adding a serum to your skincare routine can make a big difference in your results. I currently have two serum loves that I alternate between in the morning: Kiehl’s Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate and Sunday Riley Good Genes treatment.
The Kiehl’s serum is an anti-wrinkle treatment infused with vitamin C. It provides anti-oxidant protection and exfoliates the skin improving its overall texture, tone and revealing a radiant, healthier-looking skin. The Sunday Riley Good Genes is a brightening lactic acid that does the job without drying. It is formulated with ingredients that plump the fine lines, reduce wrinkles and support natural circulation to create a smooth complexion and even out the skin tone (thus reducing the look of hyperpigmentation and scars).
Daytime Moisturizer
I adore the Kate Sommerville Goat Milk and have used it for years. It is a light daytime moisturizer with milk proteins, jojoba, avocado, aloe and grape seed extract. It hydrates and rejuvenates the skin by restoring the optimum moisture and balance for a healthy complexion.
Lip Treatment
A little dab of Dior Crème de Rose lip treatment concludes my daytime skincare routine. It is hands down my favorite lip product. It has essential rose oils, smoothing shea butter and vitamins A and E, leaving your lips feeling soft and hydrated.
Do you have some skincare weapons of your own?

Thank you! I’ve always had a passion for photography but never really had the opportunity to pursue it until I became a stay at home mom. It’s something that I enjoy doing while my son is napping. 🙂

Loved your approach to beauty and skincare. Will you do a night time routine as well?
