A blush that will last a lifetime! That is the first thing that comes to mind when I think about the Marc Jacobs Air Blush Soft Glow Duo, a new release for Fall 2016. That means to say it is a blush that will transcend the passage of time, a classic makeup piece, and a staple in any beauty cabinet. The shade range, formula and elegant packaging, all come together to create a versatile product that you might not need, but will definitely want.
The Shades
There are five shades in the range, each consisting of 2 colors of blush with wider blocks of a lighter and deeper tone at opposite ends that alternate into thinner stripes of color reaching the middle, a beautiful and unique pattern inspired by a Marc Jacobs dress design. The lighter and deeper tones can be used separately to customize your color or blended together.
500 Lush & Libido: a cool baby pink and cool hot pink
502: Lines & Last Night: soft creamsicle and tangerine
504 Kink & Kisses: a pale petal rose and a bright coral pink
506 Flesh & Fantasy: an ivory shimmer and a tawny light bronze
508 Night Fever & Hot Stuff: a bright warm pink and a light cherry plum
I like to use my blush by blending both shades together, sweeping my brush back and forth over the surface. The color looks very natural on the skin, providing a radiant finish and a soft-looking glow, without emphasizing pores.
The Formula
The formula is incredibly finely milled, smooth and buttery. It was created using a process called soufflage (French for ‘air-whipped’) for a silky soft texture that blends effortlessly. The result is a formula that glides seamlessly onto the skin and lasts all day without the need to reapply throughout the day. Although the colors look very bright into the pan, the pigmentation is just right and very buildable. I find that a soft, fluffy brush such as the original Real Techniques Blush Brush (read my review here) works best with this type of formula as it allows me to control the amount of product that I pick up on the brush and slowly build the color onto the skin by layering and blending as much as I desire. I’ve also used my Real Techniques Tapered Blush Brush from the Metallics Collection, which is a little stiffer at the tips, and although it works just as well, I have to use a lighter hand when applying the blush onto the skin to avoid over-applying color and having to blend a little more.
The Packaging
The blush is housed in a sleek, palm-sized compact modeled after a vintage cigarette case. The mirror inside the compact is large enough to use when applying makeup on the go. The compact not only feels and looks very luxurious, but it also seems to protect the product well.
It’s nearly impossible to pick a favorite as I truly do adore them all, but for me, No. 500 Lush & Libido is the most special. I received this blush as an unexpected and more than generous gift from a lovely and dear friend, Anxhela. Your photos are so beautiful! I’ve seen these blushes at Sephora and am very tempted! I love the Hourglass blush formula and this one seems very similar, finely milled and vey pigmented! I will definitely swatch them next time I’m at Sephora!

Cat you are very beautiful and that blush suits you perfectly. Ive been debating whether to get the blush or their LE eye shadow palette. I love 500, I thought it was lighter good thing I read your review first before buying it online. I will let you know which shade or palette I got next time.

As again, we share some blush faves as Hourglass Luminous Flush and Nars are some of my ‘go to’s’ that never fail me so I am bound to love this one. I am eagerly awaiting Sephorafr.com to stock these or my local Sephora in Monaco as they are a tad slow … well too slow for me lol.
