Hair is such an important part of who we are and how we present ourselves to the world on a daily basis. A good hair day can boost confidence, enhance a makeup look, take an outfit to the next level and put a little spring in your step. And a bad hair day…let’s not even go there. Getting volume, shine and adding a little bit of oomph to the hair is something most us have battled at some point and some of us even on a daily basis. It is a constant challenge trying to figure out how to tame unruly locks and make hair look less flat. I’m always on the hunt for products that make my hair look ‘done’ without actually doing too much on my part (I am not known for my talents as a hair stylist, you know), always searching for and trialing products that reach Holy Grail status. And I have found a few! Here are my hair heroes…
Briogeo Rosarco Milk Leave-In Conditioner
This is an ultra-light, leave-in conditioner I like to spritz all over my clean, damp hair before styling. It is 96% naturally-derived and formulated with a unique blend of rosehip, argan and coconut oils. It repairs and restores hair’s strength, manageability and moisture levels, while also protecting against heat. It seals the hair cuticle to lock in moisture, restore luster and diminish frizz. The hair is left feeling soft and silky. The Rosehip Oil is an anti-oxidant rich oil that protects hair from UV and free-radicals, reduces frizz and balances hair hydration. The Argan Oil is a nut oil rich in vitamin E and essential fatty acids and provides extensive conditioning to combat dryness and hair damage. Coconut Oil penetrates the hair shaft to seal in moisture and protect against breakage and excess heat. The product is vegan-friendly, gluten-free, cruelty-free and free of silicones, parabens and dyes, all very important requirements in my haircare buying book.
Oribe Grandiose Hair Plumping Mousse
I’ve always been a fan of hair mousse in general, ever since I discovered this wonderful invention back in my high school days. My love affair with the Oribe Grandiose Plumping Mousse was instantaneous and began about 2-3 years ago. I started with a deluxe sample and I was immediately hooked. It was love at first pump. The mousse gives my hair an exaggerated sense of body and structure, without weighing it down or making it appear greasy or stiff. The product is formulated with Oribe’s signature complex of watermelon, lychee (anything lychee I am sold) and Edelweiss Flower extracts, all meant to defend and protect hair from oxidative stress, photo-aging and the deterioration of natural keratin. It’s also enriched with sunflower seed oil, glycerin and vitamin E to moisturize and condition hair, as well as wheat protein to add body, shine and thermal protection. Polymers provide long lasting hold and memory, thickness and volume, while panthenol swells the hair shaft and gives it unprecedented volume. It is formulated without parabens or sodium chloride. Shake up the bottle, spray a pump into the palm of your hand and distribute evenly throughout the hair focusing on the roots. The hair is left looking larger than life.
Oribe Gold Lust Nourishing Hair Oil
This luxurious oil really is liquid gold for the hair and the list of ingredients attests to that. First up is Oribe’s signature complex of watermelon, lychee and Edelweiss Flower extracts meant to defend hair from oxidative stress, photoaging and the deterioration of natural keratin. Next on the list are Argan oil, to improve hair manageability and condition, add shine, reduce frizz, and protect against UV rays and environmental pollutants, and Jasmine oil, to help combat dry, itchy scalp and enhance shine. The oil is also infused with a blend of extracts (Sandalwood, Amur Cork Tree Bark and Barley) to enhance moisture levels and repair split ends by stimulating the hair cuticle. And the list of amazing ingredients doesn’t stop here. The product is also enriched with Cassis Seed oil (rich in omega-6 and omega-3 acids) to moisturize and strengthen, and Shea Butter (rich in Vitamin F) to soften dry and damaged hair, adding luster and protecting against further damage. I like to warm up a few drops in the palms of my hands and apply throughout damp hair before blow drying or on dry hair after styling to add extra shine and luster and control frizz. It is also the perfect companion to take on any beach getaway, as it also protects the hair against the damage caused by exposure to the sun. This oil truly is an amazing multi-tasker and a hair savior.
Supplement Your Hair
For years, I’ve heard about supplements that benefit skin, hair and nails, but never actually tried any. I’ve always believed that with a proper and balanced diet, the supplements were a bit of a gimmick and widely unnecessary. It’s a nice thought, but then life happens. Things are constantly moving and changing and it’s hard enough to keep up and stay afloat, let alone remember to eat a proper meal. So, I took the World Wide Web, did some research, asked around and finally decided to incorporate Skin, Nails and Hair Supplements I purchased at WholeFoods into my daily routine. I am not a doctor or a nutritionist, and I always encourage people to do their own research and decide for themselves. The ones I settled on are from a brand called Solgar, they are gluten, wheat and dairy free, suitable for vegetarians, and formulated to help support collagen, a major component of skin, hair and nails. I have used these supplements for a few months now, since the beginning of the year to be exact, and I personally feel my hair and nails look better and feel stronger. I will continue to monitor my body and its needs, but for the time being, I find the hair and nail supplements helpful and will continue to use them.
What about you? Do you have some hair heroes of your own?

Wonderful post Cat . I have used Oribe in the past and they really have some lush products. Briogeo is new to me and I started using them since the start of the year and loving it so far (as I just reviewed). I’m looking forward to try more products from this line and will definitely add this spray in my list. Thanks for the review, thoroughly enjoyed it.

Thank you, Molly! I’ve used Oribe products for a few years now, on and off, and Briogeo for over a year. With Briogeo, I started with the volumizing shampoo and conditioner, tried their scalp treatment with ginseng and the leave-in conditioner. I recommend everything I’ve tried from the line. And the fact that they’re natural in formulation is always an added bonus. Now off to read your blog http://www.skinritualdiary.com ~ Cat L.

Love Oribe products and always splurge on their shampoo and conditioner! Have you tried them? They smell amazing and work wonders on color treated hair! I haven’t tried anything from Briogeo, it’s a new brand to me but the leave in conditioner sounds great. Will have to try it.
