Something about sweater weather and the January blues that have officially kicked in, makes it more likely to end up hanging around the house for a lazy night in. Hello cozy blanket, fuzzy slippers, and chunky sweater!
If you cannot tell by now, I am a planner and go even as far as planning my lazy evening in. A lazy evening in is just that: one of those nights when you don’t feel like being bothered. You don’t feel like entertaining people, talking to people, and can’t be troubled to dress up. It’s an evening for reality TV, reading blogs and watching YouTube. All guilty pleasures nonetheless!
Nothing sets the mood better than lighting a candle, which is always a delight, especially when the air is crisp and the day’s been gloomy. The Jo Malone candles are by far my favorite, I’m obsessed. There’s something so heavenly about their scents! The fragrance is light, fresh and the notes are simple. You can distinguish among the different delicate aromas that infuse the room and the scents linger around the house for a long time.
The Caudalie Beauty Elixir has been a staple in my beauty cabinet for years now. I remember reading an interview with Victoria Beckham years ago, who credited this product for her glowy, healthy-looking skin. It didn’t take much convincing to pick up a small bottle at Sephora just to see what the hype was all about. It’s advertised as a priming base and setting spray, but I like to use it as a mist throughout the day, whenever I feel my skin needs a pick me up and can’t be bothered to layer on beauty products that promise all sorts of miracles. The beauty elixir is formulated with rosemary, mint, grape extracts, rose essential oils and without parabens (big thing for me). The scent is strong, but I find it refreshing, herbal and spa-like. I keep a small bottle of the elixir on my nightstand as well and like to spray it on my pillows and sheets to help unwind for a good night sleep.
The L’Occitane Lavender cream works wonders on my dry hands. Enriched with shea butter and lavender essential oils, this smooth, light-texture cream nourishes and moisturizes without leaving a greasy residue. The scent is pleasant and relaxing, even for a non-lavender fan like myself. You just can’t help but feel yourself ease up as you inhale it!
It is never a good idea to neglect the lips no matter what season! And mine don’t seem to be happy with anything but the Dior Crème de Rose. I’ve gone through more of these pots than I can remember or care to count and I’m never caught without one in my beauty stash. I usually restock when Sephora has their VIB sale, just because it always feels better to purchase at a discount. It is a product I’ve loved for years and could probably use happily for the rest of my life. Nothing seems to come close to it. I love the rose scent, the blush color, the almost-whipped consistency, even the packaging. One can argue the pot is not as hygienic as a tube, but I always tend to over-wash my hands (welcome to motherhood) and don’t mind the fingertip application.
All these products and scents work well together to create an atmosphere of calm and relaxation, perfect for lounging around the house. Just writing this post has made me want to curl up on the chaise and indulge in another lazy night in…

These are some of my favorite things! Love love the l’occitane hand creams and body lotions and my love affair with the Dior creme de rose is unreal!
Cat says
Yes! I think L’Occitane has the hand cream down and Dior has the lip balm! Can’t think of any other brand that comes close in these categories. The other thing I really like about L’Occitane is the more natural formula and that it’s free of parabens!
