I’m a simple gal when it comes to nailpolish. Just give me a classic red or a timeless nude and I’ll be happy. But if there is one particular time when I freely and willingly break out of my comfort zone, it’s the Fall! ‘Tis the season to experiment! Searching endlessly for that perfect autumnal shade (and don’t you just love the word autumnal), I decided to bring you some of my favorite finds in the run up to the Top 5 Classic Nailpolish Colors for Fall.
A classic, timeless red is an all-season color! Of course, there are different shades and tones suitable for each season. Essie Russian Roulette truly is a universally-flattering red color, perfect for the Fall and Winter. It’s not too orange and not too cool-toned, but perfectly balanced. Goes well with any outfit of choice or occasion, whether you’re heading to work, an office party or out to brunch with friends.
The award for most cleverly-named nailpolishes has to go to OPI! They always seem to come up with the most interesting, out-of-the-box names! OPI I Cannoli Wear OPI (yes cannoli as in the pastry) is a flattering icy grey that adds just the right amount of cozy coolness to your mani! And the only time when feeling grey is an option! By the way, this photo was taken 3 days after application. I find that OPI formulas are hit or miss, but this particular polish still looks glossy and nice.
Essie Gel Couture Twill Seeker –
Another take on autumnal nails is Essie Gel Couture Twill Seeker, a sophisticated holographic shade. It was impossible to capture all its beauty in this photo. The base is a cool-toned deep aubergine with multicolored gold, metallic blue and green shimmers. It’s such a lively and mesmerizing color! The brush shape and size in the Gel Couture line is simply the best! The tip fits perfectly on the nail and fans out just enough to ensure the entire nail is coated in one swipe. The formula has THE best longevity I’ve ever experienced, lasting on my nails for up to 7 days without chipping or wearing out!
For those who have a hard time bidding farewell to Summer, Essie Flowerista is a great transitional color. It’s a vivacious plum polish reminiscing of lazy summer days, but still very much appropriate for Fall. It’s similar to the iconic Essie Bahama Mama, but Flowerista has more purple and deep fuschia undertones.
Essie Gel Couture Model Clicks –
Hands down my all-time favorite nailpolish formula is the Essie Gel Couture. Hence why it’s been heavily featured in this post. Essie has taken nailpolish to new heights and made it exactly how it should be: alluringly shiny and long-lasting. One of my favorite colors for Fall and Winter is Model Clicks, a deep black cherry shade. It applies smoothly and looks very elegant and sophisticated. Plus it can last on my nails for up to 7 days. That’s huge given it’s a dark polish and considering my hectic lifestyle, constantly trying to keep up with my 4-year old. It’s also a very opaque polish, so you can get away with 1 coat. But I typically opt to apply the standard 2 coats to build up the intensity.
So these are my top favorite nailpolish colors for Fall. What’s currently on your nails? Do share in the comments below. I’m always up for trying something new.
Happy Fall!

Great post Cat as I know how much you love your nail polish! I too adore Essie and even though I love a colour, I have really been into their nudes of late as they have so many stunning choices, especially Topless and Barefoot. I do love the classic red so I may need to go have a little look in store! Kelly xx

Thank you for stopping by, Kelly. The Essie nudes are some of my faves as well. I need to pick up another Topless and Barefoot, I got rid of mine a while back as it was getting too hard to use. I’ve been using Sand Tropez, have you seen it? Apparently it’s the nude that Kim K uses as well. And yes, if you’re in the market for a red then Russian Roulette is a must-have! Hope you enjoyed the post. ~ Cat L.

All though all the colors look great on you, my favorite is the Essie Flowerista…….. reason being that even though I like fall , I LOVE summer so needless to say I’m one of those people who just cant let go of summer ! That color will allow me to adapt to the change of weather gradually, not to mention it also look great on!! Right now I have nothing on , but usually for the fall season I stay in the earthy color spectrum , one of my favs from OPI is “Yank My Doodle” its copperish but with a burnt orange accent, which really looks good on my skin tone. Great post and lovely pictures Cat! Looking forward to trying Essie Flowerista this fall!

You got me on to Essie nail polishes ages ago and I have never looked back Cat.
They are also very easy to apply which makes them perfect.

Yes, Essie polishes are some of my all time faves as well. Have you tried their Gel Couture Line? It’s simply the best, at least in my humble opinion. Thank you for stopping by, Esnath. ~ Cat L.
