Hair is such an important part of who we are and our everyday style. I am convinced that a good hair day can transform a person, elevate their appeal and provide the always welcomed confidence boost. While I am always up for trying new makeup, I’m not afraid to admit that when it comes to caring for my hair I’ve developed a phobia of leaping into unchartered territories. My hair has grown quite finicky over the years, particularly due to constant coloring and balayage highlighting, coupled with regular use of curling wands and flat irons. Humidity and salt water (welcome to sunny Florida) have added to my weakened strands leaving me no choice but to stick to a few tried-and-true products that I like to rotate every two weeks in order to maintain their efficacy. Christophe Robin Haircare is a luxurious Parisian brand (available at major retailers here in the States) that I’ve come to rely on for gentle yet effective products that will look after my sensitive hair and put a little spring in my step!
Now, I’m usually hesitant to start the review by saying the products I’m about to share with you were sent to me by the brand’s PR company, as I find it’s generally assumed bloggers are given certain opportunities from brands and thus swayed to recommend their products. Please understand that I will always recommend brands and products because I have found them helpful and useful and these Christophe Robin Haircare products are too good not to share! Honestly!
Behind the Brand
A few weeks ago, I was offered the opportunity to try out some products from Parisian brand Christophe Robin Haircare available at Sephora, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, Net-a-Porter, Space NK and Bluemercury. The brand was new to me, so naturally I bombarded their PR rep, Megan, with a million questions. I wanted to know more about who they were, their values, how they formulate their products, and what goes into their formulas. Maintaining passion for what you do, day in and day out, is not easy and I could tell that Megan had genuine passion toward the brand and their products. She seemed to sincerely want me to try this brand and see for myself, no expectations or strings attached. Thru my conversations with Megan and my own Google research, I learned that Christophe Robin is a famed French colorist whose star-studded clientele include actress Catherine Deneuve and supermodel Linda Evangelista. His haircare line launched in 1999, made with all natural ingredients and formulated to protect hair color, enhance shine and strengthen hair root to tip. His products are free of parabens, silicones, SLES, and oxidants. I voiced my haircare concerns: sensitive scalp, weakened strands, looking to add some volume, shine and a little oomph to my mane. Megan was very helpful and I was sent the Christophe Robin Purifying Shampoo with Jujube Bark Extract and Christophe Robing Volumizing Conditioner with Rose Extracts straight away.
Christophe Robin Purifying Shampoo with Jujube Bark Extract
The Christophe Robin Purifying Shampoo with Jujube Bark Extract is a gentle, rebalancing and soothing shampoo. It does an excellent job cleansing my hair without drying it out and leaving it a tangled mess. It lathers up beautifully, quite impressive actually considering it’s all natural, and rinses well without leaving any residue behind.
But this shampoo is quite the multitasker and goes beyond the standard cleansing function. It works to soothe and rebalance the scalp, calms itchiness and irritation, reduces excess sebum and eliminates dandruff. The light translucent formula is enriched with jujube bark extract to rebalance and calm and cherry blossom extract to soothe and hydrate. You can find a complete list of ingredients here. I cannot tell you just how comfortable, clean and fresh my hair feels every time I use this shampoo!
Christophe Robin Volumizing Conditioner with Rose Extracts
The Christophe Robin Volumizing Conditioner with Rose Extracts is an instant detangling and protective conditioner, meant to add mega volume and liven up the tresses. I like to apply this conditioner on the lower third of my hair, from ears down to the tips (I don’t typically apply conditioner to my scalp directly). I then use a wide-tooth comb to brush thru my hair and distribute it all over. I like to leave the conditioner on for about 3-5 minutes before rinsing off.
I’ve used other volumizing conditioners in the past but they usually strip up my hair leaving it feeling coarse and dry. This conditioner is lightweight and absorbs easily, thus it provides body and volume without weighing down or drying my hair. It not only protects the color by preserving its vibrancy, but it also nourishes and strengthens the hair fiber. My hair is left feeling soft, shiny and easy to style. What I absolutely adore about this conditioner and always look forward to is the delicate, light Rose fragrance that enraptures my hair and lingers for a little while longer, soothing my mind and senses. For a few brief moments I feel as if I’m in the most tranquil and lush Rose garden there is.
The formula is enriched with Rose Water, extracts of baobab leaves to fortify, detangle, restore volume and natural hold. It’s concentrated antioxidants, Rose Oil and Vitamin A and E, add moisture back into the hair and maintain the vibrancy of color. The complete list of ingredients can be found here.
So here are some photos from my very own Julia Roberts Pretty Woman hair moment. I washed and conditioned my hair using these Christophe Robin Haircare products the night before and styled my hair in the morning. You can see how shiny, manageable and easy to style the hair looks!
I can honestly say that I do love and have enjoyed these Christophe Robin Haircare products very much and if the brand turned around asked me to pay the price for the products they sent me, I would have gladly paid it. I am waiting for the Sephora semi-annual sale in a few short weeks to try out some more Christophe Robin products and pick up a few for some very special ladies in my life. With Mother’s Day around the corner here in the States, what better gift to give than that of fabulous hair, every.single.day!
If you happen to be in the New York City area, Christophe Robin Haircare is hosting a pop-up store/salon at 42 Hudson Street in TriBeCa through April 21st. The pop-up event is a great way to get familiar with the brand and get a chance to try some of their products. Do pop in to say hello! You will not be disappointed!

You look very beautiful Cat as always, I would believe you if you said you are or in the past were a model. You have the looks for it definitely. I have heard of this brand but never tried. If I’m honest I don’t really pay much attention product-wise when it comes to my hair, if I find something (luxury or low end) that works then I’m happy with it. I’ve been using the same Japanese hair oil for years and I can’t seem to part with it. I do like finding new gems though, this sounds great and I might be inclined to look more into them. Lovely review dear.

Mika, you always leave some of the sweetest most thoughtful comments! Thank you so much! Your lovely words mean more than you know! Glad you enjoyed the post and found it helpful. My hair has been thru so much over the years that I’m left no choice but to check labels. I try to stay away from anything harsh that would further damage the existing condition of my hair and these Christophe Robin products have been such saviors. The Japanese hair oil you mention sounds so wonderful. Where have you found this little gem? I am currently using the Oribe hair oil, I’ve used it for about a year now. It definitely makes a difference. You can always get some samples of the Christophe Robin products from your local Sephora or try them out during the semi annual sale. They’re great products in my humble opinion! ~ Cat L.

Cat, I don’t even know where to start without sounding like a gushing fan girl! Great post as always. Never feel like you have to justify your PR relationship (in your posts) with brands that want to work with you as an influencer. It is because you have built yourself to be an amazing brand and beauty resource and your readers know that.

Such a great review! I love the way you styled your hair. I am a sucker for anything that’s rose scented so after I go through all of my shampoos (I’m a hoarder) I must give this a try!

First off, your hair looks amazing in those shots! Second off, I’m happy to have learned more about the brand and its founder. When their products first popped up on the sephora site earlier this year (or popped up on my radar if they were actually there earlier) I brushed them off because they were a bit too pricey for me. But after seeing them everywhere I decided to put some of their products on my wish list. It’s wonderful to hear that they’re a natural brand and are free of silicones! I keep meaning to try a silicone-free haircare routine but finding a conditioner without any silicones is quite a feat. Hopefully I can find time to swing by their pop by 🙂 Thanks for the thorough review, Cat!

Hello, gorgeous Cat! Thank you for writing such a thorough review of this interesting, new (to me) hair care line. Your hair looks spectacular in the photos of this blog post. I am considering buying the products you recommend, because I have sensitive, flakey scalp which not many shampoos can calm down nowadays. Have a lovely weekend!

I always love reading your reviews Cat, they’re always so thought and you have such a way with words! I’ve only tried their sea salt scrub which I absolutely love, but now I feel like I need the shampoo and the conditioner in my routine too, especially since I have very similar hair issues. Hopefully I’ll get the same amazing results as you – your hair looks like you just came back from the salon! Plus, how can anyone resist rose scented anything! ?

I just recently heard of this line. I have a bottle of shampoo but I haven’t tried it yet. I just put my beloved extensions back in so I may have to wait to try. I’m not sure what you photographed the products in but it’s beautiful! What is that – is a bowl? Super pretty! Your hair looks so lovely in the pics and full of volume!
